I have to admit I didn't watch last night's game... I feared a blowout and didn't want to force myself to watch it. But hey, it looks like it was a pretty good game, even though the Brewers lost.

Today, the Brewers get to face what appears to be an organizational soldier... or, at least, he's not really a prospect. He's 27 years old and has never pitched in MLB before today. If anyone has info on whether he'll be used as an opener, please share. It's unclear whether the Braves intend to use him as a starter or not.

Recorded a 2.81 ERA in triple A this season with 7.8 strikeouts per nine, so likely lots of balls in play

Key detail: hes not a lefty

Likely a starter with minimal trust (if he gets in trouble he could be pulled early)

Other than that I've got not a single stat to give

Doubt they called him up to keep him on the bench so I would bet he's starting.

I would say yes. Under Counsell, when someone has gotten called up, they almost always start the first day to get their feet wet as opposed to sitting on the bench.

Question is does CC hit him at the top of the order to get Miller/Winker out of the cleanup spot.

I recall it being the opposite.  Unless they need a guy to start because of injury, they usually have not started a prospect and let him "take it all in" for a day so they're not completely overwhelmed because of nerves, chaotic last minute travel, figuring out where to go and how everything works, lack of sleep, etc.

Wiemer, Turang both started their first game. Uribe pitched two innings first game. Only reason Mitchell didn’t is because he got to the ballpark too late.

Wiemer was called up because of injury and started because they were facing a LHP.  Turang made the team out of spring training and wasn't a callup.

I don't recall Mitchell being late.  He found out the night before and it was a 6:10PM game start.

Wiemer still started...And it was still Turang's first game in the big leagues when they had Anderson and Urias to play 2B and 3B..Uribe pitched 2 innings in his first day up.

A little further back, Brett Phillips started his first game up against the Giants in Milwaukee. Same with Arcia against the Padres in San Diego.

Interesting that Perkins gets the call in center.  Weimer seems to getting days off at least a little more frequently.  Wonder if that trend will continue.

Your recollection is correct. Counsell has said and done this several times.

But tonight might be different if they’re looking to get another left handed bat in the lineup. Especially with a AAA pitcher on the mound to start. He might be lifted early if the Braves bring in a lefty.

Looking like the Brewers will need a win tonight to match the Reds, who just jumped to the lead over the DBacks with 3 straight HR.

Offense coming around but the pitching has quietly settled down too.

Their pitching has been pretty solid for the last few weeks (the 11-10 game against the Giants being an exception). . Their losing streak was caused mainly by a hitting slump.
