blech!

Well, at least we didn't trade a promising rotation piece for a washed up, crappy bullpen arm.

ok, so I guess we can stop talking about a Jimenez trade.

I can see folks being somewhat disappointed with this move, but I'll tell you what. That .370 OBP since June 1 looks really nice in our lineup.

I still think we need one more "bopper" in the middle of the order. We'll see.

Jarvis is just a guy.

I like this better than some of the other options like Candelario and Teoscar Hernandez. I assume the Mets are picking up some salary. Canha+Santana is a nice combination and of course the Brewers love positional flexibility.

It's an upgrade, but it's also boring as can be. A band-aid.

I still think the Crew should go after Jimenez. Cahna can play the outfield and end the Blake Perkins Experience (Thank God!!)

A minimal upgrade at best.

Typical move to make it look like we made a move.  Not a needle mover by any means.

I personally don't have the love for Justin Jarvis as I do for other pitchers in our system. He gives up way too many homers for my liking and I don't see him having the stuff for the bullpen. I am glad we did this over giving up better assets like a Gasser or C-Rod for Jimenez.

Do we really need an outfielder though?  If that is the case, I'm assuming Wiemer is about to get his playing time cut big time.  I think Canha is going to see a lot of DH at bats, not so much in the OF.

Not a fan of this move.

I don't see why this would necessarily preclude an Eloy Jimenez move, since Jimenez wasn't realistically going to play in the field much, anyway.

But if this is it, and if they aren't going to try Black for the stretch run, then that may very well indicate that the front office sees this as a team in limbo at present.  Tepid offensive reinforcements in case they catch lightning in a bottle in September/October, but don't go for broke.  That may be the right call strategically, but it isn't exactly Christmas morning...

I'd be very interested in knowing what the offers are for Jimenez at this moment.

Let's face it, this isn't a team that screams go all in. They're picking up incremental improvements for middling prospects and that's a sound approach with the current group.

I agree. I am not sure what move they could make that would put them on equal footing with the Braves and not kill their chances at competing for the next five years.

103 OPS+ vs lefties with a .250 babip. Due for regression and would be really helpful in that aspect

He'll fit right in with the other "progress to the mean" candidates in the bottom half of the lineup, then!

Yep give this group at chance to get hot but hold the main prospects to don the Brewers uniform for this next contending window.

LOL Typical Brewers move. Nothing like maximizing your chances in what will likely be Woody/Burnes last year. SMH, I should have known they were only going to do little "band aid" non needle moving moves so they can go "see! We did stuff at the deadline". Ummm not really. They still need a big time bat. I'd bet anything this is their last move.

Gotta love the "hope" strategy, they utilize.

I wish they got someone better, but from a value standpoint it seems fine. Jarvis was set to be exposed to rule 5 and decent chance he gets plucked there anyway. I wonder if any money is coming back to cover part of Canha's salary.

I don't think this has too much of an impact on any Eloy Jimenez talks. My guess is Yelich/Frelick/Wiemer/Canha rotate the 3 outfield spots with Yelich getting some time at DH as well. You could still bring in a DH only and not have too much trouble getting everyone at bats...and be plenty covered in the event of injury. Depth matters down the stretch.
