Lets just all be thankful she didn't suggest becoming a Cards fan. That...that would just be too evil and cruel!

Apologies first for taking this wayyyyy off track.  But this quote above reminds me of September 1995, when (as many of you remember, or at least know) the Brewers' future in Milwaukee was at a bit of a crossroads.  I took the step of making a mental short list of teams I would consider rooting for in place of a relocated Brewers team.

My S.O., who rooted for CHC as a kid (for reasons that were understandable*), thought he was being helpful when he suggested I change allegiance to CHC.  😬

For those wondering, the teams on my short list of 1995 included Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Seattle, Cleveland, maybe the Twins, and absolutely nothing from Chicago.

*He grew up in Kenosha; his grandparents had WGN on all the time; and Milwaukee had no MLB team during his age 9-12 seasons.  With my help, he has since turned against the Cubs; and of course, we have always been in agreement on the Cardinals.

I gotta cop to being a Cubs fan as a kid. They were in the NL...it seemed harmless. They hated the White Sox...we hated the White Sox...I was young, naïve. I only seek forgiveness now!

I never really thought about rooting for another team, BUT if I had to the Braves would probably be up on my list.

If...they moved, and I don't think they will, but, IF, I wonder what percent of the fan base would root for the Nashville Brewers or the SA Brewers?

I'd never cheer for a relocated team. I'd either leave the sport or find a different team.

Seattle Pilots fans would like a word with you.

Heheh, I'm also a Twins fan.

I should re-state: I'd never be a fan of a team that moved away from an area in which I cheered for them. I have no ill will toward fans receiving the relocated team.

Funny thing is, I’m in Seattle at this moment. Wore my Brewer hat while running around last night. There were no fistfights with disgruntled Pilots fans demanding their team back. Maybe the fans have moved on. Or died.

After 50 or so years, I think people have probably let it go. I'd probably let it go after that long, too.

But in the short term, I'd resent the hell out of seeing the Brewers in Nashville or Portland or wherever.

The Pilots were in Seattle for 1 year and they sucked.

For what it's worth, I know my Dad still dislikes the Atlanta Braves, having rooted for the Milwaukee Braves as a youngster and seeing them leave town.

When I was a kid the Braves had just relocated…….so with no local team I gravitated to the Cardinals…….they were great with Gibson and Lou Brock(my favorite player as a kid).

When the Brewers arrived …..for a number of years I rooted for both teams…..since they were in opposite leagues it wasn’t hard.

Then the unthinkable….they met in the World Series…..I had no idea how I would react to that until it started……I quickly realized my Brewers fandom far exceeded how I felt about the Cards.

After the series was over I was no longer a Cards fan……🤷‍♂️

I was pretty young at the time and liked Ozzie Smith because he did backflips.  My dad was quick to correct me... 😂

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The Brewers are 11 games over .500. That has been their high-water mark for the season. That makes the franchise 223 games under .500 all-time. If they win tonight, it will put the team at 222 games under .500 for the first time since June 20, 2002. The last time they were at:

200 games under .500-September 29, 2001. 90 wins this year and next would get them back there.

150-July 30, 1999

100-Sep 18, 1993

50-Sep 6, 1971

0-The team was 3-3 after six games in their first season. That is the last time the franchise has had a record that wasn't below .500. They lost their first three games, so the Brewers have never had an overall winning record.

When Manny Pina struck out with the bases loaded on August 30, 2016 against the Cards, the Brewers dropped to 3561-3890, 329 games under. That was the most games under .500. Since then, they have gone 566-460. I am old enough to remember the first Brewer game against the Angels, and I want to live long enough to see this franchise get above .500. Disclaimer: I am not a data scientist. This is just eyeballing records and using Excel to keep a running W/L total.

Deep bump from August 2023.

With their win on June 1 over the White Sox, the Brewers moved to 12 games over for the season, and, for the first time since September 29, 2001, got back to 200 games under .500 for the history of the franchise. As of today, still 12 games over, they stand at 4190-4390. Surprising they lost that 2001 game to the Rockies that day (14-12), when they were able to throw pitchers such as Mac Suzuki, Jimmy Haynes, Mike Buddie and Gus Gandarillas(?!) at Coors.

Since 2005, when Attanasio took over, they are 1574-1469. 105 cheap-ass wins over .500. Up next: 150 games under. That's just two 97-win seasons away (give or take).

Yelich is now only 1 SB away from being in the 200 HR and 200 SB club, which he would be the 53rd player. From what I can tell there have been 11 former Brewers on that list, including Yelich. (Aaron, Braun, Cameron, Grissom, McCutchen, Molitor, Sheffield, White, Wynn, Yelich, Yount)

With the lineups out it is now a given that Willy Adames has qualified for the Brewers Wall of Honor based on 2000 plate appearances.

As we pause for the all-star break, here are some updates:

Yesterday's win was the Brewers' 4300th in franchise history. They are now 4300-4472 all-time.

The last time this franchise was "only" 172 games under 500 was exactly 25 years ago today. Jeff D'Amico shut out KC 4-0. The next day, they started a four-game losing streak and never got back to this level until yesterday. As my original post from two years ago stated, I've been around since Day 1. This is as much, if not more, fun than I have had as a fan.

The Brewers are 133 games over 500 since Mark A bought the team. 1684-1551.

Finally, I appreciate having this site to tell about these things. Because of you folks, my wife has a lot of eyerolling taken off of her plate.

Technically the franchise history should include the 64-98 record as the Pilots. But still cool numbers for the Brewers team.

Peralta tied Bill Travers for 9th all time in Brewers wins Saturday with 65. Two more wins gets him to 67 with Chris Bosio. Will have to stick around for 2026 to get beyond that.
