Good call. With the AAA stats wiguy94 provided I don’t think Black is ready to play MLB especially in a tight pennant chase. In fact it may be deleterious to Black’s career as baseball is littered with players brought up too early and has caused a lack of confidence that has set them back significantly. Donaldson in a word has been there, has had success in that situation, and is just what the doctor ordered with a power bat and plays much better defense than Black. I’m glad they are rolling the dice with Donaldson.

Hell yes! Get a few ABs under his belt and let her rip for September!

Yuck.

At least CC wasn't tempted to play Anderson

Donaldson sucks and has for a while.

He's also kind of a knob.

Horrible move if he sees any real time on the MLB roster.

Well, the upside for those not wanting Donaldson ... he isn't at the MLB yet.  So at least we have some time to see if he is healthy and can hit.  Maybe there is lightning still in the bottle...

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

He hasn't really "sucked for a while", though. 112 wRC+ and 4.7 fWAR the last two seasons...And then good batted ball data marred by a historically low .076 BABIP.

I get that this stinks from a possible chemistry/personality perspective, but...the Brewers have had a couple really good clubs go down in the playoffs against a team employing either Yasiel Puig or Joc Pederson (or both, in the case of the Dodgers).  Maybe the team could use a little pinch of Dennis Rodman for themselves?

IDK, I kinda wanted to see Black, too, but I'm trying to make the best of it...

He's been horrid this year and meh last year..l

Are you not counting this year?

He definitely doesn't have 4.7 fWAR the last 2 seasons.

It could be the late-season pick-up the Crew needs.

And the Yankees will pay him to kick butt for US.

His surface numbers might not be amazing this year but his peripheral numbers are outstanding.

I'm not counting this year. Should have said the previous two seasons.

Hope you're right.

I have no real faith in Monasterio, so whatever I guess.

Expected OPS for the alternatives would be what, somewhere in the .650 range for the rest of the year?   That shouldn't be hard to beat to be an improvement.    And from all I've read it seems his D has still checked out just fine.

And vs lefties where it seems he'd likely take Turang's spot Turang as far as I can tell has a .501 OPS vs lefties.     As long as he's not a jerk in AAA and looks ok in a few games down there I don't know how he's not an improvement.

A gross, desperate, and ridiculous idea.

Bring up Black, end of story.

Exit Velo 92.8 MPH
Hard hit rate 51.3%
BB% 10

10 HRs in 33 Games(not that this is the end all). But it's really not that desperate. It's a guy who hit into extraordinarily bad luck in 33 games, was a FA.

Also, the Braves likely got rid of him due to Austin Riley...a top 20 prospect who hit 18 Hrs in 80 games in 2019 and Josh Donaldson signing a 4/92M dollar deal with the Twins.

He's going to be in Milwaukee maybe a month and this is very possibly his last chance. I think the negative impact is being exaggerated here.

Exactly, Donaldson already said this is likely his last season and now he’s joining a pennant race.

Other than the dust up with Tim Anderson I don’t recall any team having a problem with Donaldson besides injuries. So with such a short period of time with Milwaukee and the circumstances, I’m sure there will be no issues.
