Cubs game scheduled to start 20 minutes before our game.  Will be interesting to see which ends first if both seem to be going our way.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Will be heading to the game, looks like it will be a decent crowd for a Tuesday night.

If the Brewers can hit their average attendance numbers over the next 6 (should be easy given the Cubs series always puts $$$ in the org's pockets--I suppose we should thank them for that), they'll exceed 2.5 million on the year. That's off from the over 3 they've managed in the past, but given the massive changes in attendance across all professional leagues, it's still impressive.

Milwaukee's a baseball town. That's a good thing. Long may it remain so.

(and let's get the people celebrating tonight)

Would love to see Garrett Mitchell, Tyler Black, and Robert Gasser tonight. Sadly, I suspect we'll only get Garrett Mitchell.

Also, I just realized that Contreras has surpassed Yelich for highest OBP on the team (16th in all of baseball). Dang. We may be looking at a top 10 MVP finish. Thank you so much Braves and A's.

Go Marlins, Reds, and White Sox (playing the Dbacks). I'm going to game 1 next week and I have zero desire to be swarmed by a sea of Cubs fans.

The Cubs could easily end up playing in Philly as the five seed, though Chicago lost the tiebreaker versus both the Marlins and Diamondbacks. Nobody seems particularly interested in securing a spot in the NL.

Gasser didn’t pitch the last 2 weeks …..unless I missed it? Could be they just shut him down?

Yeah, looks like he last pitched 9/13. Probably done for the year.

I'm kind of fascinated by this year's Wild Card races (both of them). It's like a game of hot potato where all teams are actively trying to avoid wins.

I'm probably biased, but Contreras should definitely get MVP votes. I can't name 10 better guys this year. I don't know if I can name 5 who have been more important to their respective teams.

Fangraphs has Contreras 9th in WAR (in the NL). 7th among position players. It's Betts, Freeman, Acuna for me, but, after that, you can make an argument that Contreras is right in the thick of that next group. Bonus points for playing a premium defensive position. He's also putting up a 125 OPS+ in a lineup without much prowess.

He's not the MVP, but I'll go so far as to say it would be a travesty if he weren't on a whole lot of ballots, especially considering that he very much fits the "most valuable" part of equation when thinking about the Brewers.

If he could elevate the ball just a bit more, I might go so far as to predict he will win an MVP in the near future.

Olson has a little bit of an edge on that next group (especially in BRef WAR) so I think he's a lock for the Top 4 with Betts, Acuna, Freeman.

After that it should be between Carroll and Contreras for 5th/6th, but we'll see how closely the voters have been paying attention.

Problem is BRef WAR is horrific at measuring defense (particularly pitch framing) for catchers. So, Contreras' bWAR (3.6) is relatively lower.

Turang in vs a lefty ……obviously they want his defense in there with Houser on the mound.

Looks like the Cards are going with Mikolas tonight instead of Thompson.
