Really curious how the IF shakes out. Adames is likely the SS. You have Turang probably at 2b but I don't think that's a lock. Tyler Black makes alot of sense for 3b but not sure he makes the OD roster due to service time reasons. Then you have Owen Miller who is out of options, plus guys like Andruw Monasterio & Oliver Dunn and now Arroyo. On the surface Arroyo is a fine depth signing, but his addition only adds to the IF battle in spring

I doubt he makes the team with Turang, Monasterio, Miller, Capra, Jones, and Dunn (not to mention Dorrian, Campbell, Collins, and Murray) already at second but this seems like a no risk deal.

What do we do with all this depth? Is a Willy trade still possible this deal makes me wonder why and what is next.

What’s not to like signing a veteran to a minor league deal? He shows them  something and makes the team, or he goes to AAA/exercises his opt out.

Very below average. Just had a really good contact season in 2022. Definitely an outlier. Type of deal for injury depth as Opening day approaches. You hope he doesn't see any ML time for the Brewers.

I'll give'em a chance and see how he looks in the Spring. Sounds like he was battling injuries last year, but before that from 2018-2022 he posted a .268/.320/.420/.740 line with a 101 wRC+ and 18 homers over 651 PAs. That's comparable to what Jace Peterson gave us from 2020-2022 (.238/.337/.373/.710, 98 wRC+, 16 HRs, 691 PAs) and certainly better than a lot of other bench guys we've thrown out there in the past. He's going into his age 29 season and I believe has has one more year of arbitration available after this season as well if we want to retain him. Seems like a good, low risk pickup!

Decent pickup. If he gets back to 21-22 form he could be an interesting bench bat. If he does the same he did last year he is a not terrible injury replacement. I certainly prefer having to call Arroyo up to having Jamhai Jones.

Here is why this upsets me. This signing needed to happen one day earlier. Yesterday, Immaculate Grid had a square for "Boston-Played one game at 3rd base". I could probably have gotten a better rarity score using this name.

Do they need to dump someone from the 40 man?  They were at 39 before Hoskins right?

Minor League deal so only needs to be added to the 40 Man if he makes the team out of spring training.

On that note, can we please post minor-league signings in the Minor League forum?

Absolutely. I think Arroyo has the potential to really help the team!

From what I can see Miller was optioned in 2021 and 2023 so Miller would have an option remaining.

Disagree. Arroyo is a long-time MLB player. And he likely has a late March/early April opt-out. So if he doesn't make the team out of Spring Training, I doubt he sees any time in Nashville. This is basically a non-roster MLB Spring Training invite.
