Orioles Acquire Corbin Burnes for INF Joey Ortiz, LHP DL Hall and 2024 Competitive Balance Pick

He will have finished in the top 8 in the CY Young 5 years in a row. Gerrit Cole was top 5 3 of 5 years (no wins) and a couple years younger. Cole got $36 million per year, take a couple years of and 7/252 is probably a starting point.

What exactly is the plan with this team. Why sign Hoskins and then trade Burnes. This rotation has gone from top 5 or so in the sport to possibly bottom five. No team with Wade Miley as a number two in a rotation is a serious contender not even in the lousy division that this team plays in. The O/U for this team is  75.5 telling you that the market thinks this is one of the worst teams in baseball and certainly not a contender.

Brewers cashed in on their Vegas O/U with their 76th win last night...before the calendar flipped to September...with 30 games still left to play.

On the season the rotation has posted a 95 ERA- (8th) and 10.2 rWAR (14th). In the second half they have picked it up to the tune of an 81 ERA- (3rd) and 3.7 rWAR (6th).

I definitely would have lost money if betting on the Brewers this off season. However, even when I am most pessimistic I can never bet against the Brewers.

Plenty of others who had the Brewers not doing so well this year. Fully half of the people posting in the win total prediction thread had them at 81 or fewer. That includes Vegas. Only one person had them at 90 (This guy!!!).

Well, except for Homer, who predicted a win total of 162. And torts sat out the prediction thread for some reason, so the most optimistic fan out of all of us didn't document his optimism in this case.

There's someone more optimistic than the guy who predicted 162 wins? My kind of guy.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

I'm one that thought this would be a down year for the Crew.  I can't remember my prediction, but probably a touch under 500.  It's been a pretty amazing season!

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

You do know that MA was the one who reached out to Hoskins agent to get the deal done right? Right?

Well that explains why this signing didn't work out. You'd think he would have learned to stop meddling after Jeff Suppan.
