Cards had 12 LOB on Friday and 10 today. That's 22 LOB and 1 run scored.

Cards had 6 AB with RISP on Friday compared to 11 for the Brewers...so if the Cards were threatening what were the Brewers? Also 3 of those 6 AB with RISP for the Cards on Friday were in the 10th inning where the RISP was a Manfred runner.

Today first 2 innings - 5 baserunners, 0-6 RISP

Today final 7 innings - 4 baserunners, 0-3 RISP

Outside of the first 2 innings the Cards did not really threaten to score.

In the 1-0 win over the Padres they had 6 AB with RISP and 3 of them were in Uribe's inning. The other 8 innings they only had 3 AB with RISP.

Like I said outside of an inning here or there those teams were not major threats to score.

Sweet sweep over a hated opponent.

If Yelich can come back Perkins might be sending Frelick to the bench for awhile.

Perkins has been really good but Sal has been playing well too. Gotta put Yelich at the DH, especially with his bad back.

The Brewers were the opportunists today, but over the course of a season, it's better to be the first team. They actually have been for a lot of games, but it has a mirage feel, at least to me, Would love to be wrong

Buzzzzzzzzzzzkill.

Dillard stinks……just annoying

I am fine with Vinny……..I’m not a fan of Levering but I’ve come to accept that he is who we got for most of the season.

Still far better than Jim Edmonds and the other person for the Cardinals.  The game was just absolutely horrible to listen to on Friday on MLB Network.  Edmonds is just bad.  .

I’ll take your word for it……I haven’t heard Edmunds

Do that every day and you’re taking at bats away from Contreras and Hoskins some days and giving them to Frelick.

Frelick won’t be on the bench every day, but until he cools off I would give Perkins at least some of his ABs.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I don’t see Yelich being DH more than occasionally.

To get their best lineups they need to use that spot some times to keep Contreras’ bat in when he gets days off from catching, and to keep Hoskins from playing 1B every day.

Frelick would get his playing time when Yelich, Contreras, Hoskins, Chourio or Perkins get complete days off. But for now I think Perkjns should be ahead of Frelick in the pecking order.

At this point the manager keeps yanking Sal for Weimer so clearly he isn't sold on him at all.

Nice way to fight through an ace pitcher today. Perkins saved the game early today in the 1st who would figure. The bullpen today again stout. Turang still getting on base which is a good sign. Kudos to Rea for fighting today

I'm not saying this is the same thing at all... but I remember when the Bucks won the NBA title a few years back and this guy called into a post game radio show and his comment was something like "Happy they got it done, but if they want to repeat next year they really need to get another outside shooter..."

... and that really put into perspective how much my opinion/attitude doesn't matter in conversations with others because sometimes people just will never see eye to eye on how to enjoy something, and that's ok.

I’m a compartmentalizer. It is possible to do a fist-pumping YES when the last out was recorded today and the sweep over a rival, and at the same time have some doubts about the long-term sustainability of their success. Great first eighth of the season - but not even the wildest optimist thinks they’ll play .700 ball forever.

Yep and I'm not upset at that one bit. I do a modified version of this same thing .. I just allow myself to enjoy the fist pump portion of the equation for a longer spell.

Brewers have been pretty firm on Yelich playing OF rather than being a DH so if he's healthy that's where I'd expect he continues playing. If his back is healthy enough to swing a bat and run the bases it's healthy enough to play OF.
