Brewers should absolutely be going after guys like Hernandez. They absolutely should be dropping them right once they know he isn’t the answer. For every Hudson your will get 5 Hernandez’s. If you hit on 20%, you are doing great

I don't think it's really about trying to find a diamond in the rough as much as it's about recycling the 26th man rather than using up options for guys you value more highly. There's something to be said about having roster flexibility for when you need it, lest you get into spots where you have to waive guys you really don't want to waive.

Is Black coming up a sign that the Brewers believe that Ortiz is fully ready to play full time? Because while Black is likely a bit better hitter than Dunn, Dunn can actually play 3B.  The other thing that could happen is that Black becomes a Bauer replacement but this still limits the bench flexibility.

Stripping away any prospect hype, I'm not sure Black is any different than Dunn in the long run, except probably a bit better hitter, but with less power, and a worse glove.

Better hit tool and far more athleticism.  He can make things happen on the basepaths.

A better base-stealer, but Dunn is really fast.

I will be surprised if the Brewers move on from Bauers any time soon.  Yes, his hit tool is atrocious but Murphy and management seem to like him more than the fan base does.  He brings position versatility and run production.  The amount of playing time he gets tells you how much Murphy likes him.

As stated before in these forums Dunn has hardly played at AAA. He needs at bats for continued development to see if he can seriously contend at 3B in 2025. Let's see if Bauers withstands Mitchell's availability at AAA.

Outside of the two games where he rested his hamstring, Ortiz has started 31 of the last 33 games. What does full time mean to you if that doesn't qualify?

And Monasterio can play 3B as well.

Tell it to the Brewers.  Ortiz is not a qualified hitter. Ortiz has been in 65 games but is only getting 3.5 PAs per game. Turang is getting 3.9 and Adames 4.3.  And Monasterio can play 3B but is right handed so less reason/excuse to put him in over Ortiz in a game situation.

March/April: 2.9 PA/G

May: 3.8 PA/G

June: 4.1 PA/G

You might notice a trend...

Can you narrow that down to the last 33 games though? I'm not sure what relevance a season-long stat has compared to the time where he has clearly assumed the mantle at 3B.

edit: Yeah, exactly the above point.

What a weird lens to view that through. Besides the fact that you ignore current trends, you guys banging the drum for Ortiz and Chourio to play more give no thought to the fact that the Brewers may be managing their playing time to keep them playing well in September/October. What use is it to wear down two of your most promising rookies?

Besides, when the Brewers traded Burnes for Ortiz and Hall, I read in the trade thread that Ortiz is a utility infielder. Why play him more?ortiz.jpg.360f8b23ffa497bc11db0ce70574b5e8.jpg
