Not sure if a joke or aware, but he was traded to the Mets a few days ago.

Just had MLB network on and their assumption is MKE will add a bat of some kind by end of day though. They threw around Canha due to the familiarity.  I'd think a RHH OF would be the type

I would think a lefty-hitting OF would be the target without knowing how long Yelich will be on the shelf.

Yea wouldn't be surprised by either and probably comes down to just who's the better player.  I said it because Frelick, Mitchell, are lefties. And I think Perkins is better as lefty, but could be wrong.  So essentially, of our 4 OFs 3 are lefty.   And then the one on the DL hoping to come back is also lefty

He is.

I guess I wouldn't mind either hand but I didn't understand how a lot of people seemed to be married to the idea of them looking for a LHH.

Does anyone out there need a 2nd catcher?

Random guess (idea?) of an acquisition I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is Jake Burger.  Controlled for a few years after this too.  He was awful to start the year, but has been good again for the last month or so.  Can start platooning a guy like Ortiz around giving guys days off and then you have depth if an injury happens.  Ortiz/Turang have both been floundering lately so an improvement could help.  In addition, Adames is gone next year so you need to add a starter to those 3 IF positions somewhere.    IDK how is D checks out though

My random wish would be Brandon Lowe. Tampa appears to be completely "retooling" and his bat would really thrive at AmFam IMO. The cost might be crazy, but I think he would really help lengthen the lineup

Jake Burger is pre arbitration and under team control through 2028, so the Marlins probably aren’t looking to move him unless they receive an offer, they can’t refuse

If we want a butcher at third base I'd bring Braun out of retirement before trading anything for Burger.

The 9 lives of a lefty reliever!

This will provide an interesting comp to last year’s market price.

Norby AND Stowers. I mean, Rogers is a good get, especially with control beyond this year, but sheesh.

Yeah, Stowers wasn't mentioned at the time I posted it.  I thought that was bad enough, but then you add him in and it's a full-blown yikes.

I assume it will be nothing.  Same as last  year.

What about Nestor Cortes? The Yankees are trying to trade for Flaherty while flipping Cortes for luxury tax purposes. Maybe the Brewers should suggest a ménage trois flipping some minor league talent to Detroit and getting Cortes from NY.

Kiner-Falefa has the versatility they like, if they want to upgrade from Monasterio.

I like Rengifo but leery at what the cost would be.

IKF is a good call out. Brewers were interested in the summer too IIRC. Might be pretty expensive though.

Well I said IDK how he checks out at D.  But generally speaking, the guys we're acquiring are not gonna be perfect or else they wouldn't be available and/or affordable for us.  Our O is at risk of crashing, and two of our starting IFs have actively been crashing lately. As fans we've seen the main issue of the team for about 5 years now being crappy O.  Well, to get some O might have to accept lesser D, while knowing your now utility guy would be an elite D guy for filling in and late game subs.  In addition, a guy like Burger is controlled for years and if you find another IF could be transitioned to 1B after Hoskins is gone.

The Marlins are killing this deadline.

Yes, but look at haul they got for Stanton and Yelich. None of those players turned out to do anything for Miami

Stanton and Yelich were stars. Rogers isn't anything special and Scott is a reliever.
