Fowler: C Josh Myers to sign a 1-year, $3.5M deal with the Jets.

Jets brass knows they don't have Rodgers as GM anymore, right?

It's Wednesday, FA opened Monday, Aaron Rodgers has only just now been released, and he's "holding teams hostage." Nothing must sell better than "Rodgers is a jerk." Good grief.

Yes, maybe Rodgers has earned it but the media bashing seems way premature. The Steelers job only became an option over the weekend and there are reports they want a discount like Rodgers reportedly would have done for the Rams. Appalachia isn't Southern California and Rodgers just got dumped after taking a pay cut for the Jets. I don't think he will get the 45 million that has been suggested but it's hard to blame him for wanting starting NFL QB money if that is the holdup here.

Habit... they've been doing it for a couple of years, and it will take them a little time to relearn old habits.

On a serious note, I'm actually surprised he got such a low deal.

Does anybody in sports media do any actual journalism these days, or do they just engage in obsequious water carrying and then fire off some tired narratives on X/Bluesky before calling it a day? What a joke.

This Wisconsinite and Badger has done well for himself

Schefter: G Kevin Zeitler to sign a 1-year, $9M deal with the Titans.

I knew Kevin and his Father a little bit. I was there when he won a State Title in Wrestling as a Sr. His old man...who I didn't know well, I'd coached against after College, but I was down on the floor, I was just the first guy he saw. He's a big dude also. Just grabbed me and...man, cracked my back good. I was ~6'1 210 and felt like a child when he did that! Pops was so proud. I can only imagine what the last...~15 years have been like!

He's had an outstanding career though...

I thought he'd get closer to Jon Runyan Jr money. Not as much, but 3/24.

3.5M...to be a backup? Or maybe they'll move him to OG.

It's ridiculous. Nobody has any idea what the supposed hold-up is. Rodgers could want 2 years and they are sticking to 1. Rodgers could have a personal minimum wage which he is completely entitled to, and his agent is working it out. Or he is weighing relocating from NY (if the Giants are an option). It could be literally anything. And you've got even respectable guys like Schefter acting like he's doing something wrong by not declaring his choices on March 13.

It could very well be a three-way race between the Steelers, Giants and Vikings. I believe the report that he is intrigued by the Vikings' opening, but is probably weighing whether pulling a total Favre would completely tarnish the legacy he built in Green Bay.

It felt like when Favre went to the Vikings, he went there JUST to spite the Packers.

Rodgers, if he did it...I'd understand. He wants to go out a winner, they have Jones, a back he's familiar with, the same general offensive scheme, a good OL and of course the best WR, one o f the better #2 WRs and TJ Hockenson along with a good Def.

This is Rodgers.  I think he is more concerned about the optics of doing exactly what Favre did (Packers-Jets-Vikings) and dealing with the comparisons and jokes than he is about his Packer legacy.

Obviously, it didn't ruin Favre's Packer legacy.

Per the Athletic:

If the Vikings ceases to be an option for Aaron Rodgers, it’s possible that he will turn down both the Steelers and Giants and instead opt for retirement.

If true we know he is not worried about how it looks copying Favre. Vikings just traded for a backup RB Mason from the Niners so they are really going in on 25, do they really want to go in with only essentially a rookie at QB? Tough decision and they must be agonizing over it.

I think he's going to retire. It's not insurmountable, but the narrative that he didn't want to be in Pitt/NY, once they lose a couple games and that he really wanted Minny, would be insufferable. Minnesota was a very real chance to win a Super Bowl. The other two aren't there.

Pelissero: Vikings rejected multiple trade calls on JJ McCarthy.

They plan to add a veteran QB but not currently pursuing Aaron Rodgers.

Why would anyone believe the Vikings would look to trade McCarthy? That part of the story seems like something the Vikings threw in to make it sound like they are committed to him when it really isn't necessary.

I agree. Doesn’t make much sense

After they got rid of Darnold, no.  However, McCarthy is a better QB prospect than anyone in this year's draft.  They could have decided to pay Darnold and then trade McCarthy to a team that needs a QB for a top 5 pick and fill a different need.  If Darnold hadn't had his two worst games of the year in Week 18 and the Wild Card Game I think there was a distinct possibility of them doing that.

Maybe people thought they'd want to keep Darnold and they could send a 1st for McCarthy.

I think McCarthy is a really good fit for the Vikings in that system. A more athletic version of Brock Purdy.

Yes. I was reading it in the context of their consideration of Rodgers but Darnold only left last week so it probably was more relating to that. But I never believed for a second they were keeping Darnold since the playoff loss, that's probably why I hadn't considered it.

Ward and Sanders have to go to good teams or I think they're both going to be in trouble. They're accurate, good anticipation but just not elite. Certainly not like last years class. That one could end up being a historic class. Bo Nix was the most surprising out of it...but McCarthy's biggest issue is he wasn't asked to do much at Michigan.

He's tough, he seems like a good leader, he's got a big arm, he can make some great throws from different angles and he can run.

Caleb, Daniels, Pennix, McCarthy and Nix. 3 of them were good year 1, great for rookies and Pennix showed some promise and McCarthy, he'll be stepping into a talented offense.

And Drake Maye who wasn't bad. I'm not convinced about McCarthy. though.

Sanders also didn't impress me.  He looked very confused with any semblance of a pro-defense.
