That was awesome, and this to me was the most impressive part: In his sixth and final inning, he got the top three guys in the lineup, all on swinging strikeouts.

That said, he would be a lot better off with a third pitch. The Brewers have one of the most interesting pitching situations I can remember. Henderson, Patrick, and Priester have all pitched very well so far. All of them are supposed to be refining their games in AAA. It will be fascinating to see how this all shakes out.

Today was their third day of a stretch with 19 games in 20 days, could see them going to a six man for a few trips through if everyone keeps pitching well.

Believe that would get them in the neighborhood of Woodruff’s 30 days being up so could reassess then.

How many more shots is Priester going to get.  Doesn’t seem to give enough quality inngs.  Or is he out of options?

Henderson threw 78 innings in 2023 coming off elbow surgery and then only 81 last year on account of an oblique issue.

He would probably have to be workload managed even more closely than Priester who has thrown 97, 90, 158 and 121 innings in the four seasons since the pandemic.

Am guessing they prefer having Logan in Nashville where they can more easily build up his innings and work on the slider/cutter in a lower stakes environment.

Yeah I get that but Priester appears to be a liability.  Way too many walks.  Have Henderson up until Woody is ready.  And maybe having Civile closer to rehab as well.  Think Cortez is done for the year unfortunately.

We are done with Priester after 19 innings? Dang, tough crowd.

I don't even think the Brewers planned on plugging him in for more than a few starts. I feel like the plan all along was to hope he could notch a quality start or two until healthy options return and they can fine tune and make tweaks with him in Nashville

Somebody will be the odd man out when Woodruff returns, would agree Preister is the most likely but Myers needs to start getting some quality starts in as well. Patrick appears safe but things can change quickly in the next couple of starts.

This was my expectation post-trade too.  A few get-us-through-a-rough-patch starts and then start tweaking some things in the pitching lab while at AAA. We have both Woody and Civale getting close to return.

What do you mean 19 innings?  He's logged 118 career innings with a 5.84 ERA.  His WHIP as a Brewer is higher than his career WHIP

Oh sorry, I was referring to the 19 innings he had pitched with Milwaukee up until that point.

Aaron Civale was scheduled to make this start in rehab, Henderson may come in for the long innings afterwards, but time will tell!

Yup. AND, in last night's broadcast Jeff Hem made direct reference to the plan as RHP Aaron Civale now likely followed by Hendo in a bullpen or piggyback role. I wouldn't expect Henderson to be in Milwaukee whatsoever (even if we think he should be).

Logan Henderson > Aaron Civale

So Henderson is indeed pitching tonight…….so who will it be tomorrow? Hudson and Peguero have not impressed down there….

Hudson will be at the 15 day mark I believe so it could be him I guess.

Logan Henderson = 1 MLB start, 6 IP

Aaron Civale = 118 MLB starts, 639 IP

I get that Henderson is shiny and new, but I suggest holding our horses before we anoint him as a better option than a guy who has been a solid MLB starter for more than a half decade.

I understand its only 2 starts and I get that a bunch of guys are coming back in the near future, but its hard to say that Logan doesn't deserve to be in the rotation over Preister and possibly Patrick too.

Henderson is better than Priester.

This seems like a no-brainer to me.

Yes, we gave a king's ransom for Priester, but no matter how it looks, he's being outperformed by Henderson.  Logan deserves to stay up this time...

Hendo looked legit, again!  Second brewers pitcher to win both of his first two starts, the other is gasser.  Love what we got brewin!!

So we get Gasser healthy and we have the best two pitchers in Brewer's history pitching at the same time!

But yes, it is obvious Henderson needs to stay.  i'm guessing they wanted him at AAA to work on his third pitch, but Fastball Freddie eventually added to his arsenal at the MLB level.

I still say the plan to get Priester was for:

  1. A short-term MLB SP stop-gap now.
  2. A long-term AAA project to correct a few items.

But he hasn't been terrible at the MLB level either.  He had back-to-back stinkers against the Cubs and Cardinals (which can understandably produce extra Brewer fan angst), but the other 5 starts have only given up 0-2 ER.

He and Tobias seems to have similar issues this year... decent results, but struggling with control

My hesitation to annoint Henderson is that with 2 pitches the league will adjust fast. He has looked like a top of the rotation guy for the 2 starts but will teams be able to adjust.

I hope we can give Civale 2-3 starts to show that he is the pitcher we saw at the end of the year and then potentially flip him for a SS or 3B. Maybe Ramon Urias for Civale???
