I was wondering when that would happen....

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Yeah I assumed after Rodriguez went 5 innings last night somebody would be brought up.

it will be interesting if they don’t need him in long relief the next few days if they give him Alexanders next start?

I am not upset by any means about this move but I wonder if this is telling us something about Nestor and Civale injuries. I can't imagine Henderson is coming up to pitch in the bullpen, long term at least, maybe the next couple days he could, which might only make this a 2 or 3 start stay before our guys are healthy. Also, wouldn't be surprised if they went 6-man rotation once everyone is healthy so who knows

Well Civale just had a set back and Nestor certainly isn’t got going to be ready for at least a few months after that injection so I don’t think this is telling us anything we don’t know about them.

Myers will take a spot soon…….next guy up is probably Woody if things keep going well.

I don't think they would have brought Henderson up if they intended to start him on Sunday. Certainly can pitch tonight if things go sideways with Priester.

Logan last pitched April 9th so today would have been his normal day to start.

Should be available for some length if needed the next couple nights.

Looks like Henderson is probably going to start on Sunday. Brewers can probably use him for an inning or two tonight as well.

No kidding, with a 3.21 ERA in Nashville and moved up the ladder fairly quickly before that. He may have the “It” Factor.

Would be a good idea to get him a low leverage BP inning before making a SP debut on a Sunday also...

Really fantastic for Logan. Im a bit concerned on how he'll do without a solid 3rd/4th pitch but I will hope for the best

Freddy did ok with just a fastball basically his rookie year. I would just think with the 2 pitches you limit him to only going through a lineup twice and have a multi-inning reliever ready.

Logan's fast-change combo is pretty great but I dont think it compares to Fastball Freddy.

Thats exactly the problem. I dont want Henderson to be a long reliever or a starter who doesn't get out of the 4th. I really think Logan can be a very solid number 5 for years to come

Both Burnes and Woodruff broke into the MLB via the BP and Freddie took quite a while until he could handle the third time through the lineup.  What he is today isn't what he can be in the future.

The Brewers do a pretty good job at setting up pitchers to succeed (a la Preister these last two starts).  I'd guess that the reason it took them so long to call up Henderson was more about trying to get him some good work starting at AAA even if he could've been helpful at the MLB level earlier.

A #5 will almost never be allowed to go through the order 3 times.

I don't see him sticking even if he has a couple of decent starts.

We are about to become starting pitcher rich in a short time.

Peralta, Patrick, Quintana, and Priester for now with Woodruff, Cortes, Myers, Civale getting closer?  Who is closest?  Myers?

I just don't see that we have room for Henderson for an extended stay...

It's nice he'll get his feet wet but not have enough to waste a year of service time. Hope I didn't jinx it and he blows out his elbow while in the majors.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Myers definitely closest…….i don’t think Civale or Nestor are all that close. Civale had a setback and got shutdown and Cortes just got an injection in his elbow which may or may not work.

With Woodruff already on a 30 day rehab assignment; by Mother’s Day they should have Peralta, Quintana, Priester, Woodruff and Myers. I’d be more interested to see who goes to the pen or minors  if/when Civale and Cortes are healthy

It's good to have this starting depth though. Any of these guys can go down at any time with injuries, it's good to have depth here, or the ability to goto a 6 man rotation at times and keep guys healthy.

Priester has done well, and he certainly could be this year’s Myers. So could Patrick. But my sense from what I’ve read is that the Brewers intended for both of those guys to be working on things in AAA. Henderson too.

Assuming Woodruff and Myers are both effective when they get back — a big assumption — it would seem like those three “AAA” guys will be competing for one spot. Whoever looks closest to his finished self will stick. I would have to think that Priester has a big edge, given that they just gave up a lot to get him.

Patrick probably has a ceiling of a #4-5 starter long term and he has been in the system for a while, so the things he needs to work on is probably minimal.  Seems like the type of guy you bounce back and forth as necessary and not worry about long term service time.

For Priester, I'd guess it would be more on how much they want to evaluate and tweak in their pitching lab.  I feel like he has a bit higher ceiling and if they want to make more major changes, having him work on them at AAA would be preferred.

In a hypothetical world where everyone is healthy (& pitching well) I think Peralta, Quintana, Woodruff and Myers have priority on spots with Priester likely having inside track on the 5th.

If Henderson has looked good when a spot is needed for Myers/Woodruff coming back he could maybe be transitioned into a multi inning relief weapon kind of role.

Would guess Patrick is more likely to be optioned and kept stretched out for when a future need inevitably arises.

A “fantasy” September staff could be something like…

SP: Peralta, Woodruff, Quintana, Myers, Priester, Nestor

RP: Megill, Mears, Uribe, Henderson, Yoho, Misio, Ashby, Koenig
