Meh on track to be sellers

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

You never bring in McGill in that situation.  You're basically giving the runner on first a free base.  Somebody tell Murphy that 6'8" relievers are slow to the plate.

Ultimately it was offensive failure in the top of the 9th that cost them.

Unserious offseasons have consequences. This is as agitated as I’ve been watching Brewers baseball in quite some time and I’ve sat through 90 loss season after 90 loss season. No heart, no fight, no leadership.

They managed only 2 runs and 4 hits and people are more focused on the “failure” of the pitching/defense

This offense is currently the worst since 2015. The only thing they’ve done well is run the bases

Good thing they gave up a ton for a 4th or 5th starter instead of using those assets to improve what is the worst left side of the infield in the entire sport.

And they are getting worse with time.

They are basically getting no offensive production for 3B, SS, DH, and one outfielder. You can't have that many holes in a lineup and expect to score enough runs to win consistently.

Seven pitchers in a 9 inning game is kind of ridiculous. Also only 2 runs of offence against TB is a poor showing for sure.

We signed Bobby Dalbec to a minor league deal, who was released by the Pope's Sox.

.222/.333/.278

Not too good, but a significant improvement over some guys who will remain nameless.

I would feel some smidgen of hope if our hitting coaches had a better track record of improving our hitters.

The brewers are not a good baseball team and think they will be sellers but damm the left side of the infield is a total black hole at this point

It is early and they’ve navigated a ton of injuries to remain around .500 so they’re doing something right. But, this is the boringest squad to watch in some time. 5 hitters with a sub .240 batting average, and 5 regulars with 5 or fewer extra base bits in the season.

Mayday, mayday, mayday, the ship is slowly sinking!

The Brewers were barely above average OPS+ last year. They lost one of their better offensive players last year to free agency without doing anything to replace him. The best player got surgery and required two years to recover from his last major injury. Our MVP candidate is trying to play with a broken finger. I'm shocked the offense is so bad.

I had a look back on the total xbh for the Crew because I was surprised at the end of April by the lack of .slg the team was generating.

Year-2B-3B-HR-XBH per game

2018 - 252-24-218-3.06

2019 - 279-17-250-3.37

2020-83-5-73-2.68

2021-255-18-194-2.88

2022-251-17-219-3.01

2023-257-16-165-3.04

2024-249-33-177-2.83

2025-51-4-31-2.21

Seem to be trending down.  Don't know what to make of it.  Maybe if half the lineup can get back to at least average career numbers the offense might be okay.  But right now they aren't passing the eye test.

I’m not going to hold my breath on Yelich coming off back surgery and Contreras playing with a broken finger getting back to their career numbers.

Contreras seems to be experimenting with anything to see if he can find something that allows him to hold the bat and swing comfortably.

I think it’s only a matter of time before he throws in the towel and goes on the IL for as long as it takes for that to heal.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
