Go get ‘em Carlos:

This is great, maybe they can call Misi up as well and just go Peralta and the rookies Patrick, Henderson, CarRod, and Misi until Woody or Civale are back.

Seems kind of crazy to me how we hurriedly burned Keston’s 1st and 3rd option years and CF-Rod’s 1st option year, but are afraid to burn Misiorowski’s 1st option year.

Agreed, at some point he is going to pitch in the bigs, why not put him to the test while he is pitching out of his mind and his confidence is high.

I think it has more to do with 40 man roster management than options and if Mis was already on the 40, he would have been up already.

Yeah I think 40 man spots and the Super 2 date is of greater concern than options

Perhaps they're delaying his debut so that he can net us a PPI pick when he wins ROY next season😉

Gonna be a real shame when he wins the Cy Young instead.

There's a pretty crazy pitching imbalance in the minor league system right now. Including rehabbing pitchers this is how the pitching staffs look.

AAA - 18 pitchers

AA - 16 pitchers

A+ - 17 pitchers

A - 13 pitchers

ACL - 14 pitchers

Those numbers are really small for Carolina and the ACL especially when you take into consideration that at those levels you aren't going to see a rotation of pitchers stretched out to 90+ pitches.

I was shocked by how few pitchers were on the ACL squad, but the strong performances by a lot of them have made it work so far.

Why is RHP Travis Sykora repeating Low-A? Couldn't afford to bump him up to High-A to start 2025? My goodness. I wanted to see some Mudcats hits tonight. Sighs.

I looked it up when I saw he was the projected starter. Started the year on the IL, so I think he's probably just stretching out and will be moved to A+ when he's more stretched out.

Right. That's what I thought as well but they rehabbed him in the FCL and then he began his assignment at Fredericksburg. Either way, I sure as heck hope he can head to High-A so he can face a more worthy level of opponents. He has no business starting games in the Carolina League. 😅

The Mudcats play at Nationals’ affiliate Fredericksburg this week, with CF Jose Anderson (.333 AVG, 1.217 OPS in 45 PAs in the ACL) making his Low-A debut. RHP Travis Smith (4.50 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 7.2 K/9 in 20 IP) makes his 8th start.

EDIT: Tyler Rodriguez is in the starting lineup for Luis Pena, with Lameda shifting to the infield.

Still no Adamczewski. Still no IL designation. Still one sad farmer.

Wisconsin is in South Bend this week to destroy the 10-29 Cubs. Something tells me this RHP Patricio Aquino spot start will go better than his last one (0.2 IP, 5 R). DH/C Marco Dinges (.353 AVG, 1.076 OPS in 112 PAs) makes his High-A debut!

Ahhhhh OK, Sykora had off-season hip surgery. For all intents and purposes these Low-A starts are rehab starts even though they aren't listed as such. He is still ramping up and getting into form. I was unaware he had hip surgery. Here's hoping he stays healthy. He is so good when he is healthy and dialed in.

Anderson is actually batting second. He swings and misses on consecutive heaters - 96 and 97. Well behind those offerings for the young Anderson.

And, welcome to Low-A and the Nats' number one prospect. Well behind another 97 mph heater for strike 3. That's a first AB K for Anderson.

Bitonti completely overmatched strikes out swinging on a splitter low and away. Absolutely overmatched in that AB. 😂 This just in: Sykora continues to own the Mudcats.

Biloxi hosts Cubs’ affiliate Knoxville this week and RHP Coleman Crow (2.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 12.5 K/9 in 17.1 IP) makes his 6th start. C Matt Wood (.674 OPS in 116 High-A PAs) makes his AA debut and Darrien Miller makes his first start at first base since the Noah Campbell 9-position game in 2021.

Yeah I don't think this Carolina team is going to get a hit off Sykora unless it's a fluky type hit. Just supremely overmatched but hard to blame them because a guy like Sykora would probably be in AA in the Brewers system.
