Ortiz had more home runs than Contreras.   That’s ridiculous.       Contreras needs to rest some and finish strong

also does Peralta have an outside chance at 20 wins?

He has a chance but definitely an outside one. Probably has 12 more starts this year and 8 wins away.

Worst year of Contreras' career.

Where would this team be without the emergence of Collins?

Really happy for Joey……..let’s hope the new batting stance has staying power!

His defense continues to add value.

If he continues to win every start I like his chances…….😎

He just became the first Brewers pitcher to win 7 straight starts since Cal Eldred.

They are just milking the hell out of this injured hand.   Probably should have been taken care of months ago

Maybe but Contreras said in his own words he wants to catch every game.  So ???

I would have preferred Haase + Alfaro for a month with a .630 OPS if it meant Contreras could heal.

And I said in my own words I want to play left field.

It ain't his decision.

Yet the front page of ESPN MLB has a midseason article that puts the Brewers in the 2nd tier of contenders, behind 4 teams with a worse record now. The weird thing is they don't even explain why they are in tier 2, just because they are the Brewers I guess: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45762612/mlb-2025-second-half-preview-rankings-playoff-odds-all-30-teams

But he has been magnificent defensively. Definitely a top 5catcher in that regard. Remember the catch of that foul pop up on Friday? He has also greatly improved in calling pitches, too.

They’re not sexy enuf. They don’t hit more than 2 HRs a game. Another meaningless ESPN poll.
1. They are not a coastal team.

2. They are not from a city with a massive population.

3. They are not a team that been an also-ran for decades.

They always pander to the populations that have $$$.

I was ok with sending Henderson down. I was ok with sending Patrick down.

I will not be ok if Rhys comes back and Vaughn gets sent down.

They better cut Bauers when Rhys returns!

Contreras’ performance should be viewed with some perspective, though.

His OPS+ and wRC+ put him exactly league average offensively, so with his defense he’s still been an above average player - even in his worst year.

If he continues to perform exactly the same the rest of the year he’ll have completed about a 3.5 WAR season.

So he certainly hasn’t been hurting us. He just hasn’t carried the offense at times like he has in past seasons.

You have not covered how much he helps the pitchers Cuz Murphy wouldn't think twice about replacing him.
