Diamondbacks at Brewers; Wednesday, August 27 @ 6:40 p.m.: Quinn Priester (3.44 ERA, 4.36 FIP) RULED OUT with minor injury--Ashby/Fedde to open the game now vs. Ryne Nelson (3.63 ERA, 3.68 FIP)

The Brewers are essentially punting this game,  which is fine given the state of the bullpen. Ashby pitches 2-3 innings and Fedde eats the rest of the game, regardless of how well he pitches

It would be fine if I hadn't put the Brewers in a parlay 3 hours ago.

I do not think the Brewers are punting this game. If they were they wouldn't be using their second best healthy RP to open the game.

Fedde isn’t pitching all 9. And nobody else besides Easton McGee can give them length today. And he might be in to mop up if Fedde is a disaster.

Ashby pitched 2 days ago…….this is pretty aggressive usage to have him go another multiple innings stint again

And McCalvy said ideally Ashby would go 1 time through the order. Asking Ashby to go 3 innings today after throwing 36 pitches with 2 up-downs just 2 days ago feels like you're tempting fate to put another pitcher on the IL.

Yeah.   Ashby is pretty important to this team.    He can’t go down

Will someone PLEASE edit the thread title?!

(I'm just kidding. @treego14was put on the 7-Day IL this morning with rheumatoid flare ups in his typing fingers. Too many catchy poems.)

So that explains why we avoided Miller last night in the 8th inning until we absolutely HAD to get Koenig out of there. The 9th was his. That was the biggest negative about the win, Myers not able to go 3-4 innings after Misiorowski.

The game threads are filled with negativity. One would think the Brewers are 30 games under .500. People posting the Brewers suck, the Cubs will blow by them, they are terrible. The other threads have reasonable discussion and good content.

Who says the Brewers suck?

I think there is a difference between criticizing a specific player's performance or a poor managerial decision, and saying the team sucks...

The Brewers are a really great organization, though like any organization, we have our warts.  People are bought in like I haven't seen them since 2018, but are nervous because of the collapses in recent years and late in games.

Our margin for error is so small, and its remarkable that our manager and our GM are able to get so much out of this team and develop the pipeline of talent we have coming in despite our cheap owner and the frustrating lack of a level playing field in MLB.

While LAD and NYY and other big markets win a ton, that is for the "Walmart Fans" that like programs like Michigan, OSU, Florida, George, Bama...  it will mean more when the underdog actually wins one.

If we get close to the WS, I think we will have a TON of people joining the Brewers bandwagon.  Some, because they want the little guy to win, and some because they like the big boys, but want the little guy to win every once in awhile so they can convince themselves that "buying a championship" is the same as developing skills, players, culture, and momentum to overcome the odds.
