If Rockies can hang on the Cubs not gaining anything on the Brewers would def stuff for them especially when they had 3 against Rockies and Brewers had the Jays

Rockies up 5-2 in the 8th over Cubs.

Had a family event today so couldn’t watch the game and just followed scores.

After looking at  the play by play summary on the MLB app, and seeing the video of some of the plays, I’m glad I didn’t watch it. The mistakes and blown chances would have made me crazy.

If the Rockies can hold their lead (not betting on it) it would be a good weekend.

Yes that bases loaded with no one out then nothing was brutal.

We'll see how this Cubs game shakes out, but to have a week where you gain ground while facing the best team in the AL while your biggest competition faces the worst team in baseball is fine to good. That's the good news.

The bad news is Woody looked very hittable, and we ran the bases like Little Leaguers, except maybe worse.

The other good news is that the Phillies have had to win two close games vs. the Braves, and now they play Sunday night baseball before traveling to Milwaukee for an afternoon game, and we rested all our best relievers.

I don't know what any of that really means in the aggregate, but we'll be at least 5 (.499999) up on September 1. I will take that many times out of many times.

Brewers have to win because hoping bad teams are going to help you out is not going to happen. They difference between the good and bad teams has never been larger.

Yep.  That’s why there is angst despite our decent lead.   The cubs don’t even have to play well and win series

As the Rockies just won

Great to see the Cubs not steal it.

Held serve with the Cubs this last series when they had the Rockies and we had the Jays. I’ll take that.

After these next 3 games with the Phillies the schedule becomes much more favorable for the Brewers with the Padres as the top team left but that series is towards the end of September

Cubs are gonna have to play red hot down the stretch for any chance at winning the division

On the subject of the roster expansion I assume Hoskins will be the position player tomorrow.

(Ah, Rockies walk, off Cubs as I write this).

But when Ortiz is ready I hope we’ve seen the last of Siegler for this year. I would rather see Bauers because at least he has some pop, and is better defensively than Vaughn or Hoskins.  Siegler might have some  some skills the Brewers like, but he hasn’t shown enough to warrant a roster spot when results are all that counts.

I would have been happy if the Brewers could have landed Santana instead of the Cubs. They really need a left handed hitting pinch hitter for September and October. Even Black would be better than Siegler.

I'll say it again. The Cubs are not catching the Brewers. You're at over a 95% probability and the Brewers could play well under .500 and it would still require a Herculean streak from CHC. It's not gonna happen.

Extra helpful that Counsell went to Palencia, who has struggled lately.

That's a nice week for us.

I know we only need 1 against the Phils to get the breaker. That would be good. But let's go ahead and win the series.

And, hey! Off day Tuesday!

We did what we needed to do, took a road series against a great team, may have possibly prevented the Cubs from picking up anything as they played the Rockies.

We get to go home for 3 with Philly now.  Win another series and things soften up a lot on the schedule.

Time is running out, it's a very tall order for the Cubs at this point. I don't think most realize how unlikely them taking it is. Holding on to #1 is a bigger worry for me.

The difference between #1 and #2 is pretty immaterial. Just don’t drop further than #2.

Take 2 out of 3 against the Phils this week and it would be really hard for them to come back.

I don't disagree but if it ends up 1v2 I would strongly prefer to have the HFA. I don't think it's wins you the series or anything, but let's go ahead and stack the deck against whoever we're playing.

Plus, more chances for me to be there when we win the pennant.
