Let’s hope today is the real celebration.    Clinching would make this an A++++++ regular season.   I don’t care about the number one seed.    Getting the bye was most important.

Not if you include the tiebreaker. And I don’t understand NOT including the tiebreaker, as it literally decides who advances.

Most wins cubs can have is 95. Brewers are sitting on 95. One win gets them to 96. No tiebreaker needed

Not to pile on here, but the only reason the Brewers haven’t clinched is *because* of the tiebreaker. Take another look.

MIL 95-60

CHI 88-67

7 games left for both teams

It makes sense that Quero would get the call over Haase if needed for Contreras since Quero is on the 40-man roster & Haase is not.

Who is our “emergency” catcher if Jansen needs to exit the game? Hopefully, it is not Contreras. He needs a few days to get past the swelling & pain.

To make room for Gasser, Woodruff put on 15 day Il. Perfect.

With retro dating to return just in time for the postseason.  Sensible.

The NLDS doesn't start till Oct. 4/5 so it does make good sense. Give him rest. I feel confident he wouldn't need a start to knock off any rust.

How bizarre … I guess Zimmermann & Fette will get starts this week … surely hope we get the NL 1 Seed with this approach … seems risky to me

This is a good news/bad news situation. It will be great to see how well Quero can play in the bigs, but the fact that he's suggests concern about Wild Bill's injury.

It's likely just the need to have a backup catcher to Jansen,  cause I'm sure Contreras will not be behind the plate much if any time the rest of the regular season

They clearly don't care about it. I'm not sure why not but I guess health is most important.

Scratch that. Doesn't sound good. We just can't have nice things.

I thought it was Rob Zastryzny not Woody. But I first seen the post above now. Almost dosent seem real.

Yeah the whole resting so you are ready for playoffs or September is garbage.    People get hurt anyways.    No matter how many innings you try to save etc.

honestly I’m tired of hearing it anymore

Well sheesh. It sure sounds like Woo is saying his season is likely over. My goodness. Are ther e even words?

This is obviously absurdly unlucky and the worst timing imaginable. And, we are extremely lucky we have the horses to still meaningfully be in the race. Can't say that about pretty much any team had they suffered this type of setback at this juncture.
