Short hook. But IMO if they win a championship, he's going to have to contribute meaningfully.

Maybe in a longer series. Not in this one.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Maybe, but I think if the plan was to use him as suggested, they would not have included him on the roster at all. As polarizing as he is at the moment, I believe he was put on the roster because of the juice in that arm and the potential to be very effective. I fully expect to see him in at least a medium-leverage situation, and a lot of collective rage about it, but it's October, the time to be sheepish is over. Everyone knows that he can do things the other guys can't when he's really going.

Yep, and based on what was left (namely not left) in the Cubs pen, things could've gone incredibly sideways had that call been made correctly right after he started his 2nd inning of work and had already given up a bomb to Merril.

That is exhibit A why the ABS review is going to dramatically help the game - and Id say the same thing if it was the Cubs that got screwed on that call.

Wait until abs calls that a strike

My biggest question mark (and concern) heading into this series is whether the Brewers offense can return to something remotely similar to the one that appeared in the 57-19 midseason stretch.

If they continue to perform like they did in September while going 12-12 (3-9 against playoff contenders) it's going to be another quick exit.

Season long statistics paint the Brewers as one of the best offenses in MLB, but September was a different story. While they averaged 4.98 RPG for the season, they averaged just 4.25 in September after averaging 5.8 during the hot streak. They scored only 26 runs in their last 10 games.

The Brewers 103 runs scored in September was 12th in the NL, their 17 HR was tied for 13th with the anemic Pirates (the Cubs had 37), and their team OPS of .706 was 9th.

Some of the individual numbers for the month show that most of the team's key hitters were not producing the way they will have to to win a playoff series.

Hopefully the days off will allow the team to reset and regain their mojo. But I am getting a vibe like 2021 when the team started slow. went on a tear after the Adames trade in May, but limped to the wire the last few weeks. After 4 days off the offense remained dormant in the NLDS.

Hoping that history does not repeat itself.

The controversial called strike three at his calves, umpires need to be better and took Padres right out of the inning, inexcusable:

This is the LAST I'm gonna say about it.

Yes it was a ball.

Yes, the bases would have been loaded.

Yes, the double play happened.

Yes the fly-out also happened.

So they would have lost 3-2 (instead of 3-1).

Stop crying that SD would have won the series on that bad strike call, that's just silly !!

I think it all comes down to Yelly.

When he's raking, we're winning.

When he's not ................................. we're a .500 club

Your just assuming you know what would have happened.  Just change your name to cubs clairvoyant.

I'm looking forward to winning.  If it's 2-1 on 2 squeeze bunts and Yelich gets a Golden Sombrero that's fine.  Just win baby.

Been through enough of these to know that bounces probably decide this series. A blooper here, a small defensive error there.

We've been on the wrong side of that a few times. Maybe we will be again.

But don't let the fact that it's the Cubs distract from the fact that this is just another playoff series. And we're all going to have a peak emotional experience over the next week, however it ends up. That's the beauty and curse of baseball.

I hope we win! If we don't, I'll get over it in a day or two. Sports pain is temporary, the memories last a long time! Let's all enjoy getting to experience it together, even when we get angry or heartbroken!
