Adding Myers and dropping Mears. Presumably to have a guy who can cover more innings or even start a game with Myers. A little surprised that Lockridge was kept instead of adding another bullpen arm like keeping Mears or perhaps DL Hall.

Lockridge makes sense with all of the lingering injuries we've seen in the OF late in season. Was kinda hoping not to see Gasser show up again. I get leaving Henderson off, hasn't seen any live action in two months, would be asking too much for him to come back and pitch meaningful innings at this point in season.

My biggest wish was getting Myers back so I'm happy in a vacuum. Really would love Gasser to prove me wrong here ... But barring injury I'm not sure what he can give you that Hall can't.. repertoire/matchups/unfamiliarity I'm guessing?

Hoskins carrer truly over here.

No, he just got hurt at the wrong time and Bauers and Vaughn have bumped him out. Lockridge as a pinch runner and extra OF with injuries is more valuable than like the 3rd PH option.

Gasser is still shaking off rust. If we look past recency bias, he’s pretty clearly a better pitcher than Hall at this stage in both guys’ development. I’m sure the Brewers have been carefully watching Gasser in throwing sessions. Their roster decisions have worked out so far, which doesn’t mean this one will, but I’m inclined to think they’re doing it based on meaningful information that they trust.

No, but I could see a scenario where they say Chuorio (all OFs) is totally healthy, so lets add the bat instead of the pinchrunner (who is only needed for Vaughn).

Yes. Lockridge Curts Perkins are a bit heavy for bench outfield. Do I see an opportunity to have Hoskins hit against a lefty sure. Why not? You're paying him. In a big spot would you rather see Hoskins or Ortiz grab a bat?

They’re never going to carry three first basemen and Hoskins is clearly the worst option of the three. Bauers and Vaughn are both hot.

You are not putting Hoskins on the roster to be a 1B, you are putting him on to pinch hit.

Out of curiousity, has anyone seen Hoskins on the bench?

Well you’re not gonna waste a spot on a guy who can ONLY pinch hit either.

There is definitely an argument for Hoskins over Collins depending on your preference. Perkins is your clear CF right now ... so Collins really has no path to playing time either other than pinch hitting. Adding Hoskins allows you to use Bauers in the outfield in a pinch if you run into injuries/necessity.

So in my head the 'pinch hit off the bench' spot right now is between Hoskins and Collins ... and Collins offers you the switch hitting ability that Hoskins doesn't so I agree with his inclusion.

I'm not upset folks who prefer Hoskins to be calling for him ... but in my eyes it would be over Collins and not Lockridge. Collins and Hoskins on the roster together would be redundant. Lockridge is here for different reasons.

Yes, he was in the dugout with the team for the Cubs series. I assume for the entire series, but I only made a note of it once.

I can see that viewpoint. My guess is they just want the 6 outfielders in case Chourio tweaks it but not badly enough to rule him out for the playoffs

the brewers brass knows more than all of us about their personnel, but I just wish they would have replaced one of Collins or Lockridge with Hall or even Zastryzny.

LHP LHP and more LHP vs these guys.

Very surprised at Gasser's inclusion. Myers for Mears surprises me given how much the org trusted Mears to get out of jams. I guess they just see that as less valuable in a series that will demand more bulk relief, especially with only 12 pitchers. Maybe the emergence of Patrick helped there. He can do what Mears does and more, so they made the tough call.

I would have had 13 pitchers. But what do I know? The marginal value of Hall/Mears/Z over Lockridge seems...small and not worth worrying about.

No where for him to play.  Vaughn is a better bat and defender at 1B.  Bauers can play multiple positions.  If Chourio didn’t injury his hamstring I believe Hoskins would be in the roster.  Right now there isn’t a spot for him.  You would have to play Yelich in LF and then DH Hoskins.  Hoskins is just not a fit roster wise for the playoffs.
