Game 10: Packers @ Giants - Sunday, Nov. 16th @ 12:00 PM

Darn, I was really hoping they'd be dumb enough to start wilson.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Will 9-7 get them in the playoffs?

Maybe but I don't think it will.  They have to go 5-3 to be guaranteed a playoff spot.

Giants were in many a game and yet found many a ways to lose under Daboll this season. They will face a team extremely capable of matching them in that department with losses at Cleveland and Carolina at Home amidst a free fall. Jameis has the ability to go off for hundreds of yards and multiple TD's in any game. He could also throw 5 picks. 😅

I predict the Packers take the lead. LaFleur then proceeds to call a conservative game. Giants pull back. And, in a late drive to win the game McManus doinks, let's see, a 37 yarder off the left upright (who knows, maybe it just gets blocked - also on brand). Jameis then drives for what ultimately is the winning TD

Now, this obviously may not be how the game goes but it certainly reads like a vintage Lafleur led Packers performance, no?

They'll probably make the playoffs because there coincidentally happens to be a drop off after 7 teams.

PHI

SEA

DET

TB

LAR

GB

SF

CHI

No one outside of those 8 will make it. The Bears, putting together a nice season, but their defense is not good, the pass rush in particular is very bad, and they have been winning some very fluky games. They are a strong candidate for falling off. SF plays a much softer 2nd half than CHI. I think GB will finish 10-6-1, good enough for 6/7. It's certainly possible we're the odd team out, and those two GB/CHI games may very well be for the 7 seed.

Visiting Philly in the WC as a 7 again would be just beautiful. That would be a good way to set Matt off to sea.

I'm not really taking issue with your overall point but fluky wins and fluky losses feel to me like just the average run-of-the-mill day in the NFL.

If the Packers had found their way to winning these last two games would this board be singing praises instead of dooming and glooming (and I'm right there with everyone else in that boat)? Not sure, I feel like we'd all be feeling lucky but the Packers would be 7-1-1 and looking like they're really positioned well for the playoffs. We'd probably be saying things like, this team is good but they need to clean some things up to solidify their status.

I'm not really sure what my point is here. I guess I don't want to take wins away from the Bears just like I'm not going to take losses away from the Packers. "Just win, baby" is definitely the golden rule in the NFL.

I dunno. At 5-1-1 I still thought the Packers were overrated and their offense had major issues. I think the Packers are the same decent team as last year, but not anything special. The Bears may be the same class, but the difference is that one has a strong defense and IMO that will end up being the differentiator.

It's not even really fluke wins that have me question the Bears though, it's their defense. Their pass rush in particular is atrocious.

Incoming 3TD 3INT game for Jameis

A couple two tree of those picks better be house calls, then. This offense on the road and having to score 20+ feels like a lift.

The Giants are going to run QB3, RB2/3, and WR2/3 out there in this game. If there’s any hope this year, the signs of life have to show up this week, and outscoring the Giants is not exactly like climbing K2. But you’d never know it to look at the Packers…

OSS being pessimistic? Is water still wet? 😂

As for the bears, I think their upcoming schedule will iron out some of those "flukes" for them.

Eagles, Lions, Packers (x2), Vikings, 49ers, Steelers.  Only 2 teams with losing records (Vikings and Browns) and the Vikings beat them once already.

That Lions game is the last game of the season and could be a meaningless game for the Lions.  So that maybe the starters play the first half and that is it type of game.

It's a long ways away but I'll bet there is still something on the line for them. The NFC is gonna be a dogfight for that #1 seed (and probably 2, 3, 4 seeds too) between DET, PHI, LAR, and SEA

If the Lions lose this weekend I don’t see a path for them for the #1 seed even with a lighter schedule than most of the other playoff teams.

After 2 games I thought we were the best team in football.

Very disappointed with the results since then.

Also, MLFs, and Bisaccia’s handling of the kicker position this season has been so costly and awful. I see McManus is doubtful for the weekend. So really, he’s never been healthy this whole time.

Although Bisaccia is basically just a warm body that I expect nothing from at this point.

As you speak to @adambr2, in a truly shocking and stunning turn of events, the kicker the Packers have inexplicably been playing injured for the past three weeks is now listed as 'Doubtful' due to quad soreness. This season is as deeply ironic as it is painful to watch.

Gee, it's as if playing the kicker that's been injured the past three weeks was a stupid idea that cost us games. That's absolute football malpractice. Something bad organizations like the Jets do.

Definitely something going on with Malik Heath not making the trip due to a “coaches decision.” He’s probably not pleased about losing his offensive snaps to a guy who can play neither wide receiver nor corner, and after watching Melton play last weekend, I can’t say that I blame him.

You could make a valid argument that we have literally 1-3 less wins because of that one decision.

Aaron Banks = NIR - Vet Rest

Since they don't say "back" or "knee" and instead use "vet rest," does that mean the play has been so atrocious that they can't figure out if they want to put him on the field or not (and that included the practice field)?

Gutekunst's batting averages in free agency-

2024 = 1.000

2025 = .000

Can't say I envy what they're having to do at kicker. That position is such a rollercoaster. Havrisik just doesn't have the track record to be fully confident in him, so that could have backfired rapidly had they gone that route. McManus does have the track record, but has been pretty bad. I don't know how hurt he is, that's the million dollar question. If he's hurt, he should have been on the IR a while ago, but he insists he isn't.

I would like to know why we kicked a 64-yard FG with a guy who isn't healthy.

I'm not sure how "costly" it really is when the spot would have been occupied by some reserve ILB who plays special teams anyway. It's been a bit of a circus, but there's so much wrong with this team it's buried a bit down the list. There are so many areas of this team that lack direction.

This team is beyond frustrating.

Josh Jacobs gets so much love and he's a good dude and a hard worker, but... we play like we're the Eagles or the Ravens.

Love is #1 in EPA on dropback passes... but we run nearly 50% of the time or we run play action(even on 4th and 9 when... we're NOT running the ball).

We've had injuries and... there is SOME reason for WRs not getting open, but it just feels like MLF watched how we got beat and instead of JUST building the Defense to stop that, he's trying too hard to build an offense to copy it.

I also don't really blame Bisaccia. How many years have our STs been bad and he's been a very good coach elsewhere. It's not him. Also, the HS sub? Probably should have put McManus on IR and let him play it out, but he made 2 FGs.

Now we're playing a team that... outside of Cleveland, IMO, has the top front 7 in the league. Dexter Lawrence is a top 5 defensive player, Burnes is a poor mans Parsons(which is still pretty good). And then you have Abdul-Carter and Kayvon. That's a lot.

I'd REALLY like to see this team come out and STICK with the pass.

look like it might be pretty windy today. May impact the deep passing game.

Good. I don't want Love throwing deep. The o-line can't block much better in the passing game than in the running game anyway.
