Ah, the "Bring Joy" bowl! Well, we can always hope the Packers will bring us joy with more victories. 😁

The reason for optimism is that nobody is really that good and clearly separating. I would have to say the Rams are #1, but we just lost by 3 to Philly who you'd have to say is #2 and we have a win against Detroit.  Thanksgiving will be telling, how we play a divisional road game against a solid team.

The Seattles and Chicagos can certainly beat the Packers, but those aren't teams where I think we're getting run out of the building.

I didn't watch last night but just saw on GMFB that Detroit went 0-5 on 4th down. That is how they will go down in the playoffs again. I agree it is wide open but Philly is starting to look like the Chiefs, they just know how to win and I expect they will be better come playoff time.

Depends on the opponent. I expect them to also go for it on 4th down 5 times against us on Thanksgiving except go 4 for 5.

They lost because Goff was 14 for 37.

I agree with all this. However, having about 8 teams that have a decent shot at winning the NFC means our chances are probably 10-15%.

The worst part about the 2025 Packers is that they gave us a 1 week preview in Week 1 of what they CAN be and then we haven’t seen anything close to it since. And every time since then you watch them and think, eh, they’re ok, but they could be so much more.

Goff in questionable weather is a bad nfl quarterback - was windy in Philly last night, and when I saw Goff warming up with gloves on both hands I knew the Eagles were going to win.

2nd half in Pittsburgh they looked very good, looked like the start of a run, but turned out to be the start of "the runs."

Wins are better than losses, but the team feels solidly less than the sum of its parts. I didn't mind a clunker or two in October, but it time for the team to be growing.

Can't peak to early 🤣

I think losing arguably the best player on the team after Parsons is going to impact the offense. They were super thin on a mediocre offensive line and lost Jenkins. Any playoff wins will be frosting, IMO.

I wonder what Malik Willis would bring back in a trade? 4th rounder too optimistic?

Too late now but that sounds about right. We discussed it here when Bengals inquired and my thought was he had too much value to Packers and it would take a 2nd rounder which no one will do. Hopefully he gets a big enough contract in FA to get us a 4th round comp pick. That was a big drive yesterday.

Man, that was an absolute slog yesterday. Not easy to watch. The repeated mistakes and drops were, um, mildly painful. This being said,  I thought LaFleur called a very good game which was extremely encouraging for me. Can he do such a thing against better competition with the ongoing injury woes and OL issues? Hard to tell but yesterday's game calling was really good overall. Kudos to Him for rising to the challenge amidst a gossipy lead-up week. After another brutal half of NFL football for one TE Luke Musgrave, it sure seemed like the Packers offensive staff  moved him down to TE3 on the second half depth chart. A lot of fans were invested in Hopium for this young man. Despite his athletic traits, He just continues to not be an NFL-caliber starting player. He is just the antithesis of the type of killer instinct player TE Tucker Kraft is. I will be entirely unsurprised if he ultimately is relegated to a down and distance gadget player the rest of the season. So much potential. Unfortunately. He has just been a timid unconvincing player his entire career.

I may be down on Musgrave - and, obviously I am and have been since quite early - BUT IF the HC is going to toe the company line on such a high draft pick (every org seems to do so until the wheels fall off)

Can he at least start using him like a primary route runner vertical threat in the mold of a Mike Gesicki en lieu of what they're doing pretending he can be a Tucker Kraft? It certainly seems obvious he needs to get out and move like a deer - like that is his primary skillset as a football player. Is it me or do the Packers tend to do this routinely with players - ie miscast them to their wants and needs as opposed to using the player where and how he plays his best?

FitzPatrick and Whyle both had more snaps on offense than Musgrave.  Talk is cheap, LaFleur can say what he wants to say, but Whyle getting more snaps speaks volumes.

From what people have told me about Musgrave...I just don't think the guy is a tight end.  He may have tight end dimensions, but he really is a wide receiver stuck in that body.

I've had to say things like this all the time when people come to complain about a particular worker and you have a performance improvement plan in place for that person... You smile and say things in a positive way because you don't throw them under the bus to others.

"Absolutely needs to play more": Translation - his own stupid mistakes kept him off the field. We were sending a message.

"We'll make sure that happens": Translation - he is going to run fumble drills all week to drive it in his head.

"He did a pretty good job overall":

  • Translation #1 - he had two sucky plays when we put the ball in his hands, but he made a great cheerleader on the sidelines in the second half.
  • Translation #2 - We don't have other options and are stuck with the guy for the year and trashing him to the press would eliminate one of my several bad TE options.

Wasn’t physicality the knock on Musgrave coming into the draft? Size, speed are terrific, physicality to fight through contact,  block and break tackles was lacking.

No surprise when he gets to the NFL where every player is physical, when healthy, he has  struggled to get on the field as a blocker or pass catcher.

i’m sure the Packers thought they could teach some tenacity when he was drafted and it hasn’t worked

There are a lot of HOF TEs that couldn't block to save their lives... But they could also stay on their feet and hold onto the ball.
