I'm assuming Hamilton is our new utility guy. Other than Jett, I don't see any options for 3rd base.

The team must have really wanted Harrison which is normally a good sign

As a Brewer fan, I have a lot of questions.

I understand what they did. I'm sure they really liked Harrison. They feel they have a bunch of 3rd base prospects that project closer to a traditional 3rd baseman.

The wrestler in me liked Durbin a lot. Very likeable hustle player but I think he probably had the best year of his career last year. Siegler meh. Liked Mysterio for what he was. Can we please do something about Joey Ortiz though?

As others have said, this leaves a big hole at 3B. Yes, maybe we shift Ortiz and add Williams, but I think this team really needs a slugger. I know it isn't in the makeup of how this team is constructed but the power is still lacking throughout this lineup. We are loaded with prospects right now, I can't imagine we will just hoard all those guys. Gotta think we would ship some away for something...

if the left side of the IF is Jett and Ortiz, i will be disappointed.

Joey is so good defensively why would you move him off of SS and give the position to a guy who hit .205 in a small AAA sample?? Something is cooking perhaps

I'd be extremely surprised if they acquire the big, burly power-hitting prototypical 3B type. Just isn't the way this team operates.

We now have no 3rd baseman and gave up a comp pick for what exactly?

Harrison is the prize here.   Whether we agree with that is up for debate.

For a guy who was arguably considered the top LHP prospect in the game a year ago at this time.

This is where checking in on Suarez would have made sense. He plays third for a year until kids are ready. Unfortunately they dragged their feet and missed out. Ashby Hall Harrison seem to be duplication. One of them isn't going to make it imo.

Also, if Paredes was available for a reasonable cost you'd think Bos would've just gotten him rather than Durbin. He was rumored as a fit there right away when Bregman left due to the monster being perfect for his all pull game

If they can tweak Harrison just a little. This is a steal

Ended 2024 as the top LH SP prospect - Guy has nasty stuff, just need to control his breaking ball more.

I thought this guy was like 28 for some reason.  Who the hell am I thinking of?

Suarez is the opposite of how the front office constructs rosters. He undoubtedly brings power, but tons of swing-and-miss, a low average, and bad defense (which at his age is only going to get worse). If Doug Melvin were still this team's GM, he's be exactly the type of player they'd be looking for. But that ship sailed a LONG time ago.

Went over to Sox talk. Initial fan response is positive. This guy:

Wow! Can’t believe the Brewers accepted that trade. This was a steal. We got a promising and controlled IF for literally pure garbage.

Edit: Is "pure garbage" an oxymoron?

"Go ahead. Try to disagree with me. I dare you." Jeffrey Leonard.

David Hamilton maybe?.  Who we also got in this trade.

I skimmed reactions on social media and it's hilarious how every time the Brewers make a move, it's always, "What in the hell are they doing?" and "Brewers front office has no clue!"

Just had the most wins in franchise history and have won the division/made the playoffs in 7 of the last 8 years making the same kinds of moves.

Well, considering the Red Sox traded their super-duperstar for that "literally pure garbage" just seven months ago, that should tell you all you need to know.

Harrison was not long ago a top 50 or higher prospect, Futures Game guy, really big deal. He's got big league experience but also room to grow, is young, controlled, free agent 2031. I've seen a couple of takes that really like Drohan as a second piece as well.

The return is not at all bad, it's just that the major league roster at the moment seems a bit imbalanced. (We already had a bunch of LHP on the 40, though the system as a whole might be a bit thin. The infield configuration seems very unclear for the moment, though there are certainly prospects on the way up.)
