Really disappointing game. On one hand, you can’t win them all. On another hand, this game didn’t have to unfold this way and there was a lot of poor decision making all around.

Not sure William has any idea what the zone actually is.  He might never win a challenge.

And I liked it when one of our announcers over the weekend said that Contreras was going to be elite at challenges this year.

Frustrating loss. Miz is your one and you gut the Lineup. That means it's going to be tough anyway then you let him walk 4-5 batters and give the game away. Get them tomorrow I guess.

Just threw 4 straight balls.  Perkins swings at the first pitch.

90mph FB over the plate. Hard to blame a player for swinging at that. It doesn't always work out. Honestly even Matos. That was a 95mph FB right down the middle. Hard to blame a guy for swinging at that.

I don’t really have a problem with the decision, but the player himself doesn’t belong in the everyday lineup.

Unfortunately with injuries that is where we are at.

Despite only one successful inning from the offense I thought the approach tonite was mostly good, considering the opposition (once again Rengifo swings it well enough for a 2-hit day & gets nada). The thing about Crochet--you show discipline, you tax the guy, and on 3-2 he makes a pitch good enough that you couldn't walk it over the plate any better. Every. Single. Time. Finally a little crack in the armor once you get him over 100.

A matchup like this, every pitching mistake gets magnified & Hall made a big one on the 0-2 pitch to Story.

Was hoping the 10-12 pitch journey to la-la land from Misiorowski was never to be seen again. Oh, well. Win the series tomorrow.

Honestly, I’m so done with Perkins I just needed something to complain about.

I wouldn't have. He doesn't look bad or hurt, but he doesn't look particularly sharp to me. It's only 3.2 IP this year, but game 11 vs Boston in the 6th?
He's ramped up earlier with the WBC and he was throwing his FB at 95 in his last appearance(he got back to 98, but still).

Another Right Handed Power arm would be the one thing I'd like to see them be a little aggressive in targeting right now. Megill had the elbow last year. We had 19 lefties in the pen. The White Sox had a few guys I'd love to see in Milwaukee. That Taylor who threw for them was overpowering, but he went to his off-speed when he was throwing 102 up in the zone past us. Hicks is another guy if they kicked in some money.

I'm also less bothered as I didn't expect this lineup to really do anything today.

Plus if Uribe was used tonite it would've been his 3rd game in 4 days & we'd get to read all of the "This BP will be toast by June 1st, Murphy doesn't know what he's doing!!!!!" posts.

I wouldn't be surprised if Patrick is the added RH pen guy before it's all said & done.

What is Murph doing not hitting Bauers and Turang there? Can’t save them for the 9th against Chapman. I don’t understand why he’s not pinch hitting after stacking these lineups for the lefty starter.

You're talking the 8th? In that case the only one I'd hit for would be Ortiz, and that puts Turang in the game defensively & it sounded like they really wanted him to get a full day. Sucks on April 7th but might've been prudent long-term.

Yeah, he can ramp it up out of the pen.

I also just did a... very little surface level look into Grant Taylor and... he ain't getting traded. I was ignorant about his pedigree. I thought he was just a live and unrefined arm, but he's a young guy who may still start for them.

But Patrick, I'm still looking into Jordan Hicks if we could get him without giving up a ton. Just watching his pitches out of the zone, it reminds me of Megill or even Harrison where they simply had him move on the rubber so the movement kept the ball in the zone.

I'm sure they'll make a trade for a reliever. I'm sure it won't be anyone I think of. I'm also... guessing they won't have a huge impact, but they will be an insurance policy. But I'd sure love another high end arm. Maybe Hardin or someone can play up in short stints(like Patrick).

No clue what this staff will look like end of the year.

I'd like to see them eventually give the ball to one of the younger starters (Henderson, Gasser, Crow, whoever else might step forward) & put Patrick in the role where he really shone late last year. It'll certainly help when we get further along in the year---it looks like 6 inning starts are going to be a rarity, again.

I would imagine most of the relievers worthy of picking up--Hicks included--will be retained until you get closer to the deadline.

Yeah, Taylor is a pretty hot commodity.

Yes the 8th, as Crochet was still in to face Ortiz in the 7th. It doesn’t make sense to me how after having a day off on Thursday, no game Friday, and a day off coming again on Thursday that a couple of professional athletes at their peak cannot bat once and play 1-2 innings in the field. You can’t say the mantra is “Win today” and refuse to hit two of your best matchups vs a righty in game 11, with a day off coming in 24 hours.

I stand corrected on Turang

Yeah, I thought it would be a one-day off sort of thing where if Chrochet was throwing on Wednesday he'd have played Tuesday, then had two days off. As with all of this stuff, better to take care of it now.
