Jeffrey Springs from the Athletics? 1.26 era on the road. Has a $750k buyout  of a $15M team option for 2027.

Oakland likely will move him to cut payroll.

I think Peña has been included in some of these mock trades because of three reasons….

1. He is a top 100 prospect, and we know to get something of quality in the MLB rotation, we need to give up quality.

2. We are likely not trading other top prospects that have been extended (Lara, Pratt) or have super star potential (Made)

3. We see Peña as potentially not fitting a position here with several infield top prospects (Pratt, Made) or for not being defensively above avg  at any one infield position, which seemingly is a priority with the Brewers.

Not a Springs fan. In his last 5 starts covering 23 innings he has given up 27 earned runs and 28 hits. His fip is 6.04...I'd hope the Crew looks for someone a lot better.

Jose Soriano and samy natera jr for sal frelick, jeferson quero, Marco dinges, brock wilken, carlos f rodriguez

Thoughts?

The Brewers don't need another left handed relief pitcher.  Maybe Jose Soriano for Jefferson Quero, Jett Williams and Carlos Rodriguez (who has zero trade value).

How about Landen Roupp from the Giants?

Similar to Reid Detmers (108 IP of 104 ERA- | 79 FIP-), Roupp has been a big time FIP underachiever this year (97 IP of 103 ERA- | 81 FIP-) who has 254 IP of 96 ERA- | 89 FIP- for his career.

Gets a lot of grounders with a 115 GB+ this year and 111 GB+ for his career. His sinker (+2.6), curveball (+5.3), and changeup (+1.0) all have positive run values from StatCast so far this year.

Lots of team control left (4.5 years) so could be more expensive than his name recognition, but might be worth it if the Brewers think they can unlock another gear or just get his run prevention more in line with his peripherals.

I'd rather send frelick instead of jett let lara start in place of frelick let jett start at 3rd over ortiz

Realizing the optics make it impossible, but who wouldn’t do Jett Williams straight up for Freddy Peralta. Regardless of Williams’s performance in AAA he’s currently blocked in Milwaukee at  multiple positions for the foreseeable future.

I wouldn't, Freddy is washed...  Been horrible for quite some time now.

The only saving grace for him would be that he would be familiar with us, and maybe that would make him better?

I'd pass.

Lol, I've thought of that exact same thing.

I wouldn't trade Sproat and Jett Williams for Peralta, but i'd easily trade Jett straight up for him.

I'm not sure why the Brewers would even do that considering the year Peralta has had, certainly would not be an innings eater. I guess they could count on him to pitch every start, that is about it.

Given the state of our rotation, 5 IP every start is valuable.

He's not even doing that of late - only 1 of the last 5.

Williams could very well be playing backup 3B/SS in Milwaukee soon if healthy…..especially if they are dead set against bringing up Made or Fischer.
I agree Jett is somewhat blocked by others for meaningful playing time long term. But not as much this year….pt is there for the taking apparently.

I think I am back on Detmers as my top target. I know it is hard to gauge the Angel's owner but I think we could get Detmers without giving up a top prospect. If we offered Dinges, Letson, and Crow that would be huge value return. We could maybe try and add a reliever like Kirby Yates in as well. As mentioned previously maybe put Jett for Dingesin and switch Letson to a lesser pitching prospect like Dorchies or a similar younger arm.
