Dang, I was at the game and I thought I'd check in on this thread now that it's over, thinking that it would be a nice reprieve from the normal sadness that the in-game threads provide. Somehow a 5-0 win still had an overarching negative tone other than the talk about Harrison.

Last year they were under .500 a third of the way through the season. If THAT team can stumble along you'd think the 2026 team w/o a few of their more important players might hit a rough patch w/o fans jumping off a bridge.

You'd think so, anyway.

I don’t see anybody jumping off a bridge.

But I do see a lot of people recognizing a team with issues that go beyond missing a few injured players that are still out as they enter a difficult part of the schedule

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I didn't see any bridge jumping today either. That was the last couple of days. I'm just saying the thread was still sad or negative in tone with what was overall a really good day of baseball!

I was at the game too and just scrolled through the thread. If you think it had an “overarching negative tone” that’s you trying to see it.

The first part of the thread was understandably negative as the Brewers went through their fourth straight game of going through the first 3 innings without a baserunner. Lockridge’s 2 out walk in the third broke a string of 35 straight batters retired in the first time through the order.

Then the comments turned to the 5 run inning and Harrison’s outing. That was followed by the angst of first Megill and then Ashby having trouble finding the strike zone to set the table for the Pirates to come back. Given some of the recent bullpen performances that angst was warranted. I think everyone breathed a sigh of relief when Brewer killer Reynolds grounded out to end the eighth with the bases loaded.

So you disagree with me that the thread was overall negative, but then agree with me that the first part of the thread was negative and that the ending of the thread is negative.

The thread followed the flow of the game, just like someone should expect.

I don’t think the last part was negative, just anxious. Maybe it didn’t bother you at all to see relievers walking batters with a 5 run lead, but I think you’d be in the minority

Generally speaking, I don't get too upset over things I can't control.

Admittedly it would bother me if I thought Ashby, etc were doing it on purpose.

It’s going to be negative until the brewers field real baseball players in their lineup. and a bullpen that can hold a small lead.     The first part can hopefully be solved when some players come back.    Even though we have some real crap in the left side of infield and maybe frelick

the bullpen makes me nervous.   We can’t win if they aren’t good.

Miz and Harrison is a great start to a young rotation.

Yeah the starting rotation has been the best aspect of this team for sure.

I don't disagree with the struggles and concerns. I appreciate you agreeing it was a negative leaning game thread; that was my only observation.

I think maybe you need to look back on some of the IGTs.

I guess I have more tolerance for passionate fans expressing frustration.

See that's your problem, you see 3 negative pages out of 4 as overwhelmingly negative when what you should do is cherry pick the 10 positive posts in the middle.

Which is a really important aspect to a winning team, I think. The bullpen has stunk, but that’s more variable and fixable.

It was interesting that Murphy let Harrison go over 100 pitches today. Maybe it was just a one off, or maybe the pen has left him with little choice, but I hope he loosens the reigns on the starters and lets them start working deeper.

Has Chourio started his rehab? I thought earlier in the week they said he would start this weekend. I didnt see him in the minor league report so I am guessing they are waiting until Tuesday.

With the day off what are thoughts on giving Eddys Leonard a week at SS or 3B?

I think the bullpen is starting to come around. Some people just have to realize that if the pen averages 3 innings or more a game the pen is likely to give up a run or 2. I will say Zerpa isn't special like we had hoped in that WBC run. Megill is coming around and Ashby has been great. However teams are realizing his stuff is so good that it is getting hard to locate and teams arent chasing early. He needs to develop a get me over curveball or other pitch to get ahead. It is a long seasons and there are always lots of adjustments a pen needs. I feel like swapping Zerpa and Hall's roles might be worth a shot. Make Hall the later inning lefty at least until Keonig (or Rob Z) gets healthy and Zepra can pitch multiple innings less days a week. If Zerpa struggled with that I do think he has an option.

If you go through this relatively short thread post by post and mark the ones that are really negative you will see who’s actually doing the cherry picking.

But, if you consider a fan, getting frustrated when an event relief pitcher can’t get the ball over the plate as being too negative, then I guess it was negative.

I consider a lot of those posts the message board equivalent of someone at the game saying “ D**n it Megill, get the ball over the plate”

Not only did Harrison and Misi look great but Sproat is coming around and Patrick and Woody have been consistent. Drohan looked good, Crow had a solid start, Henderson has been great in AAA, and Gasser is getting back after looking ready before the injury. Not to mention Carlos Rodriguez gave some strong innings and Tate Kuehner has been great as well.
