Got to continue to gut out these wins with pitching until the front office pulls their collective heads out of their asses and replace these multiple non mlb players we run out there.    Every damn day

From Google AI.

"Yes, Jim Slaton recorded a 4-inning save for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Cleveland Indians on July 1, 1983. He entered the game in the bottom of the 6th inning and pitched 3 2/3 innings to close out the victory. Under historical scoring rules, this technically qualified as a 4-inning save appearance."

Also I've been the cool the jets on promoting Lara guy but I'm sorry if you're going to let Perkins get two leverage AB hitting LH because you don't trust Mitchell defensively then Lara should be up and one of those two should be in AAA. Perkins literally looks like a pitcher hitting left handed at this point. He should never be facing RHP.

Google AI lol.

I wasn't expecting the last one to be so recent.

But in that case, Bubba came in with a 5 run lead and Pittsburgh extended it to 9. Patrick did 4 innings with no cushion at all.

Let’s give Chourio a mention……Homer, double and game saving defensive play.

Fair enough!

Bats mostly sucked!

I don't think I've every seen a 4 inning save and I've been watching baseball for about 30 years now

Way back in the day multiple inning saves were Rollie Fingers' specialty, including in his short time in Milwaukee.  Most of them were 2 or 3 innings though.  He went 4 innings against the Yankees in 1982, but got a win not a save.  He went 4 innings a few times in 1981 too for the Brewers, but didn't record a 4 inning save (he took the loss in one and won the other).

Which pitcher goes down to make room for Gasser tomorrow?

I imagine Pete just got a big league salary for a day and will be gone? Bullpen just got a full reset.

I will go on record as saying I was for it

Me too. And would have said the same had it not worked out.

For me, Chad Patrick is the hidden pitching star of this team. I think he's a starter, but the way that cutter EATS out of the bullpen makes you want it out there too.

I don't know what you do with the guy, but I kind of like that the team is being creative (I was initially worried about him going to the pen, but I see that they seem to be trying to figure out what they have--or maybe they just already KNOW). Maybe he's a guy you just throw every third or fourth day for 3-4 innings. Stretch him out for a spot start if needed. Let him pitch a leverage 8th or extra innings game if the bullpen gets taxed or short arms. He can be a utility pitcher, and while that's a subtle dis for a position player, I'm not sure there's a higher compliment for a hurler. I think the guy can play every position you would want from the mound. He slots anywhere. This has been an ode to Chad Patrick.

I think Strzelecki. My hunch is he had an opt out clause coming up and Brewers called him up in case there were mop up innings tonight to DFA him for Gasser tomorrow.

We definitely should not take Patrick for granted. Having a pitcher you can trust to throw 4 leverage innings out of the pen is special. That's a very rare thing to have.

Depth is a great thing.  We have two starters on the IL, sent down a starter after an effective spot start (again), and still have our second or third best starter coming out of the bullpen to do stuff like this.

The Brewers IMO really have a pitching staff that fits a piggyback approach very well. Sproat, Patrick, and Henderson all really fit the bill well.

Where is Sproat? Is he hurt?

Could maybe even add Drohan to that

At what point do we need to make a move on some of our hitters that are not performing?

Hard to say if that's how the Brewers see it. A year ago I wouldn't have bet on Ortiz getting meaningful playoff at bats and that's exactly what happened.  I'll believe they'll make a move to upgrade the lineup when it happens at this point.

Looks like Jett Williams is having a good month of May so far in Nashville. Would think he might be a call up possibility if that continues the next week or so. Has defensive versatility, though will need to be a 40-man roster addition.
