It would be an unprecedented Brewers move for it to be Hardin. He just made his 10th total start above Appleton. He isn't a tryout guy... so giving him a 40man spot is a permanent 40man spot. With Henderson, Gasser, Crow, etc already occupying that AAA starter shuttle ... I'm not sure having 10% of your 40-man roster occupied by fifth starter/ Nashville options is best use for a team that lives off of roster flexibility.

I could be very wrong. The only way calling Tyson up would make sense to me is if we are certain we are going to trade one of those four arms at the deadline.

I assume 1 of Bobby Fuel Tanks or Crow are coming up and if we need to create an injury then Woodford is going to have to be hurt for a little while.

Crow is on normal rest and they left him on the roster instead of sending down after the start.  He pitched generally fine and likely would've gone 5 with 1 run if not for the botched DP.   They know more than me but I'm not sure why the decision on who starts today is much of a decision, unless wanted to do an 'opener' of some kind before him.

They haven't yet announced a starter for Thursday, have they? That could be Crow. They like giving starters extra rest these days.

I'm also thinking Sproat gets a start either Thursday or Friday, despite Murphys' recent comments that weren't exactly a glowing endorsement (although the thought of him going in Denver stands one's hair on end just a touch).

I think Woodford gets DFA'd and Hardin gets called up. Crow and Sproat both make starts as well. I think the Brewers want Misiorowski and Harrison to get 5 days rest. Harrison in particular coming off a 106 pitch start.

Before people make rush orders for North Shore Adult Diapers, Gasser's last start in AAA:

5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 0 HR, 60 pitches

In his last MLB start he threw 89 pitches, so he can probably go 80-90 pitches.  Not sure why he only went 60 pitches in that AAA start.

Gasser tonight Crow tomorrow I guess.

I will say we can't afford to keep Woodford on this roster if we only trust him up or down 8 runs.

Well, hopefully we can bring the bats tonight.

Webb has historically been one of the best pitchers in the league. Not so much this year. We will see.

Yep. The 40 man roster thing is understated. The Brewers value flexibility greatly. Yes, it’s true that Woodford can and probably will be expendable on the 40 or some point, but it would be a little shortsighted for the next man up to be burned on a spot starter that doesn’t really need to be up yet. Then you end up needing another spot later and now you have to make a decision far unnecessarily early on Hardin if it doesn’t work out.

Gasser is the correct, albeit unexciting choice. I like Henderson as definitely more than a AAA/MLB shuttle guy but Crow and Gasser are fine for that role while we wait for Henderson, Woodruff and Priester to get healthy. We don’t need another one occupying the 40 at this point.

Hopefully everyone else knows this by now too but he’s literally nothing more than

Step 1 - Have no insider information at all

Step 2 - Take something that is currently speculated and plausible and announce it to be fact as breaking news

Step 3 - Blast your 5% success rate as proof of your sources while ignoring your 95% failure rate.

The worst of Twitter/X.

Chourio not being in the lineup today has me feeling uneasy

Hopefully nothing more than loading the lineup with lefties against Webb who has some pretty strong platoon splits especially this season. Can’t argue with either of Bauers or Mitchell the way they’ve been swinging the bats. Frelick over Chourio is a little more iffy but he’s had a nice last couple games that he can hopefully keep going and build on.

Just feels like I haven't seen Chourio on the bench for matchup reasons since the first few months of his big league career back in 2024. Maybe that's the reason. I hope that's the reason and it's not him nursing an injury.

I'm thinking (hoping) it's nothing more than you're in the midst of the 13-in-13 stretch, Webb is a pretty good guy to get a blow against if you hit RH, and no self-respecting position player wants to sit out any games at Coors.

You seldom see it anymore, but with Vaughn in the 2-hole I'd love to see some hit & run if Yelich reaches ahead of him with the way Vaughn has been pasting the ball to the right side.

Btw the playoff format is so stupid.    What’s the point of winning the division by 10 games?   Here’s your reward.    Cubs/cardinals in a three game series.    What is the reward for beating their ass in the division anymore

I see they're saying Crow starts tomorrow - I'd imagine with the bullpen grid being the way it is, Sproat might be on multi-inning relief duty tonight (possibly tomorrow), along with Anderson and Woodford. With the short turnaround to tomorrow's day game, probably want to save the A-list back-end guys. Want to being the operative phrase.

Low expectations for run prevention tonight...

Well, yes if you're the 3 seed it sucks. However, the reward/incentive is to keep playing hard all year to get top 2 seed and a bye though.

Remember this format was done to correct the old 4 team playoff in which winning the division literally didn't matter other than homefield so if two teams (Bos/NYY in that era) were running away with the division it didn't matter who won it. And if you were way ahead in your division didn't need to chase the 2 seeds

The system in between was the stupid 1 game playoff where yes winning the division was the same for all (and avoided the 1 game) but in that one there was no bye reward for top 2 seed, was bs if you were a WC in a loaded division while crap team won different division, and in general 1 game playoffs in baseball had to go.   If you accept that playoff expansion was gonna happen to some degree (and don't want even more) this is about the best you can do.   Essentially, there's always gonna be a flaw no matter what you do
