Why in the world would you use Vaughn HERE to hit for Bauers, who is hotter than hell?

In what universe do you hit for Bauers?

You can hear it in the voices of Levering and Dillard that they don't get it either.

Geez.

because he murders lefties?

Meh, Bauers is on fire, you don't take him out of the game at this point, he is more than capable of getting the job done there.

If we aren't going to start Vaughn, we need to do a better job of figuring out when to pinch hit him.

yea and he's possibly coming on at this time to play D for Bauers anyway.    That said, I agree with the comments earlier on getting Vaughn in for Frelicks earlier ABs.   Sure you'd have a few innings of Bauers D in the OF but can put the new guy in for the 8th/9th innings so it would've only been a few innings

I’m probably in the minority here, but I seriously couldn’t care less about crap like the major league strikeout lead and who’s leading the horse race for the Cy Young Award.

Agreed there's definitely an argument for doing it earlier with Frelick, but it should surprise absolutely no one that he PH there.

Turang has twice failed to put the ball in play with chance to drive in runs. He's gotta go back to the old approach. This homer happy one didn't even make the all star team. Just get on base

Miz going 7 is big. Should have a ton of options in game 2, and still have some left for tomorrow if they can shut the door and end this in 9.

Like he did yesterday?

Hreat day for Miz. He earned this one.

Miz having a “bad day” is 7 innings, 3 ER, and 11 K’s. Sanchez’s bad day yesterday was 3.1 innings, 9 ER, and 1 K. He’s simply on a different level.

I wonder with Mis throwing 100 pitches today if they will consider skipping his start on Sunday and having him pitch one inning in the All-Star game.

Right, generally speaking it seems they missed the note that a lefty was gonna be the bulk guy and should've had a vs lefty line up out there.  But who knows, that stuff is tricky when its questionable if anyone will go more than 2-3 innings.

In addition, a vs lefty lineup could've easily had one of yelich/Bauers on the bench and both had good games. Sometimes baseball just happens

Ashby with a one run lead makes me nervous. You almost have to assume that he’ll have to overcome a lead off walk.

Hopefully all their left-handed relief pitching is burned out after this game.

The vulture has a plan.  Allow a run and wait for the guys to get him a couple in the 9th.  Voila, 13 wins.  :-)

It seems like he's more wobbly after coming back from a rest.  I feel better on his second day.
