I wonder why Vaughn isn't in with the lefty going today?

Nice 3rd inning here, put up a crooked number and getting the pitch count up.

Do any of the sites track team percentages of stranding runners at 3B with less than 2 outs? The Brewers feel so pathetic at this lately, but I’d love some context to know if the league as whole is just as bad, or if they truly do stink as much it seems.

The closest I can find on FanGraphs is team batting stats with runners in scoring position and less than two outs: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/splits-leaderboards?splitArr=54,55,59&splitArrPitch=&autoPt=false&splitTeams=false&statType=team&statgroup=2&startDate=2026-03-01&endDate=2026-11-01&players=&filter=&groupBy=season&wxTemperature=&wxPressure=&wxAirDensity=&wxElevation=&wxWindSpeed=&position=B&sort=15,1

They're 7th in the MLB in wRC+ in that situation, 8th in AVG, 3rd in OBP, 13th in SLG, 9th in OPS

Over the last month stats: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/splits-leaderboards?splitArr=54,55,59&splitArrPitch=&autoPt=false&splitTeams=false&statType=team&statgroup=2&startDate=2026-05-07&endDate=2026-11-01&players=&filter=&groupBy=season&wxTemperature=&wxPressure=&wxAirDensity=&wxElevation=&wxWindSpeed=&position=B&sort=9,1

Over the last month they're 7th in the MLB in wRC+ in that situation, 7th in AVG, 4th in OBP, 15th in SLG, 9th in OPS

They opened with a righty and the rules are the rules.

They can hit fast balls too.

Yep, that's why they are working on mixing in the offspeed stuff.

Especially against a divisional opponent that just saw Miz barely over a month ago.

The Miz looks very tired. Hopefully they go back to 6 pitcher rotation very soon. I’m worried The Miz might not make it through an entire season.

He looks how I would look sitting in the stands in a day game with swamp weather

He doesn’t look tired, velocity is still right there, and location is not suffering. I think it’s just big league hitters making big league adjustments. Miz came out swinging this year, he’s just now getting punched back. Now he needs to counterpunch, which I have no doubt that he (along with Hook/Henderson) will.

Tired for a pitcher usually means lower velocity, that doesn’t appear to be the case.  I think teams are just adjusting to him the second time they see him.

Contreras is a really good and important player to this team and somehow manages to do a lot of little bad things that really piss you off.

I feel he gets extremely lazy at times.

Pretty early for that.

Not really. You don’t need to burn 2 guys as you can put Bauers in OF. Guys you’d normally consider hitting for in a big spot in Ortiz and Pratt are sort of untouchable today with the lack of defensive options beyond them. With that, I think it moves up the timeline to consider pinch hitting.

It appears that MLB hitters are starting to catch up to the Miz.

No way Greg Jones plays a single inning at 3B, his call up makes close to zero sense.

Is there a TRADE coming?  This move bringing up Jones is very odd.
