Pretty nice pitching line for DeBerry. Who has the starting pitching line of the night - him or Wande Torres?

DeBerry (Game Score: 77)
7 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 3 BB | 11 K

Torres (Game Score: 83)
7 IP | 0 ER | 1 H | 0 BB | 8 K

Game Score Calculator at BRef says WANDE

For all the Dickinson doubters (I 'might' be One? I tend not to be), this is essentially approaching the year mark from his NCAA post-season hamate injury. It could just be he is finally getting healthy? 🕵️‍♂️

That is a good point. Could be something to watch

3B Mike Boeve (.803 OPS in 320 PAs) has hit safely in 18 of his last 20 games.

First 57 Games (238 PA)
245/336/341 (86 wRC+)
11.3 BB% | 20.2 K%

Last 20 Games (82 PA)
443/500/671 (203 wRC+)
12.2 BB% | 11.0 K%

...and that was before tonight's 2 for 3 with two walks.

Man. Post-TJ Cameron Wagoner is on the train to an MLB opportunity down the line. He just got absolutely filthy. What a freaking pitch coming off the same arm action that pumps 99!

Boeve is punching at the .300 door after tonight. Is it crazy think to get him a boatload of 3B reps and shove him up to Nashville to be a sleeper late season roster addition?

I still think about his run pre-injury through Appleton. I thought he was fast tracking himself to MKE.

I was thinking exactly that when I saw the 103.3 EV on his HR.

Wande has been on a particularly dominant stretch here. In his last 4 starts he's gone 25.2 IP, 17 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 32 SO. Feel like he's always been more interesting than his results being a big LHP with promising velo.

Brewers let’s get Wagoner on up to Nashville. Please and thanks.

Good call on Boeve, he was #5 on their archived 2025 Top 30 so could see him getting added back on.

Ding ding ding we have a winner, Ricki Moneys is the prospect they added to the top 30

Ragsdale has been fantastic so far in AA.  His 13 walks to 5 strikeouts is what sticks out the most!  He hasn't skipped a beat since his promotion.

I thought Ragsdale was a throw away pick/max 4th outfielder type when they drafted him. The development process of the team was always pitching but now they seem to have a better idea with hitters.

The "throw away" picks (I mean these are talented kids, but maybe drafted in the top 10 to save money when they were borderline top 10 picks) have been just the opposite the past few years - like Yoho in 2023, and Ragsdale and Owens in 2024.  All three seemed surely like save some money for the post 10th round players.  And while they did serve that purpose, these 3 in particular have been really good. You can add Kuehner and Manfredi to 2023 as well (Kuehner, Yoho, Manfredi combined to sign for $110,000!). In 2024 the only really low bonus signing was DeBerry in Round 3 (which is just amazing to think we picked up a 3rd rounder for $25k and he is actually pitching well in AA), and Sam Garcia (very mixed results).

And Ragsdale was a true bonus payment in reality at $237,500 in round 6. I'm not sure what Andrew Healy signed for (not listed on BR.com) but Owens was the only top 10 round player who was under $100k.

It seems to me the opposite-field approach, with power, is becoming increasingly common across the system (I noticed Bitonti and Dinges both doubling opposite field yesterday), and across MLB. It would be easy to prove/disprove with some kind of organizational spray chart. My pet theory is that ABS has narrowed the zone, allowing guys to get to their oppo-power with more regularity, and MAYBE even allowing teams to mess around with what guys can get away with as hitters. In my hypothesis, guys like Garrett Mitchell and Andrew Fischer are somehow able to sustain 30%+ K-rates because of this. Fewer popups to the corners, more plate coverage (with power) on both heaters and offspeed. If they are only striking out on in-zone pitches, the K-rate isn't as much of a problem, because they would be avoiding K's and tappers out-of-the-zone. But I'm just a fan making observations.
