I count 72 NDFAs signed by other MLB clubs thus far, but zero for Milwaukee.

We typically sign about 6 NDFAs at this time of year, but maybe we’re zagging.

Hopefully the reason is they need the spots because almost all of the draft picks are going to sign.

I dont know the numbers but could we potentially be up against the maximum amount of player limit?

Again I dont know the numbers but if we sign 15 players or so I could see us being close. Maybe some guys coming off injury lists as well could count (dont know how IL works for minor leagues).

They definitely are close to the full 165 man stateside limit, but that is not unusual.  Unfortunately, this is the time of the year where they do some releases to make room. With the depth in the system, it could be that they have more talent already in the system than available via UDFA.  Also could be the Brewers may be signing most of their recent draftees.  We usually hear by now a few players that "won't sign".  I see some difficult signs but its all of them seem to have a chance of being signed.  Money may prevent that but we shall see.

Hearing from trustworthy sources that the team could sign 18-19 prospects from this class, so that, in conjunction with the overall talent-level of the system likely is the reason they aren’t adding UDFA’s, at least up to this point.

After the couple recent releases, I have them with 161 stateside with 18 on the 60 day or full season DL, leaving 22 roster openings.

I wondered if they tweaked their strategy a little. Seems they lost out on a number of signings last year and this year its been interesting to see the number of draftees with some connection to the Brewers org or the state of Wisconsin.

Another Missouri kid, and this one from Sedalia which is really close to my neck of the woods.

The Indiana, Wisconsin and Missouri baseball fields are definitely being scouting by the brewers.

Not sure if it is the quite the same as well as a totally different era, but I remember the Braves historically always scouting the big areas like all teams, but they knew Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama better than most teams and had a lot of success from those regions.

Not a huge surprise, given he's a prep NDFA, but I hear Hagedorn will be receiving the full $150k to sign.

Any word on if he was one of those AmFam tryout guys? Sure feels like we’ve been getting super under the radar guys up there for workouts and  throwing $150k at them.

I am not sure in this scenario, but my guess would be he did at some point.
