I was just looking over at yesterday's thread, and being that this could be a difficult, pivotal road trip, I thought you regular IGTers needed a playful poke, just to tease you a little bit...

Last night, the lineup looked good, so Murphy was right (the IGT was right!). The Brewers didn't score enough, Murphy was wrong (The IGT was right!).

Taxed bullpen? Murphy's fault (If only he'd listened to the IGT!!)

Last night, Henderson's pitch count looks good, sent back out. Murphy was right (The IGT was right!).

Ooops, but not for that long. Wrong again, Murph! (the IGT was right!).

Brewers win? Murphy's press conference sucks. Hate his kids.
Brewers lose? Murphy's press conference sucks. Really hate his kids.

Day after day, the theme is the same in the IGT. Murphy is responsible for the mess this team is in, and if it wasn't for him, and his kids, and Levering and Sophia, and BA, and Attanasio, and Yelich's Mom constantly tripping over their own feet, this team would achieve... more. If they only cared more, like the IGT does, then the Brewers would be a team we can be proud of. A team that actually wins something, a team that isn't satisfied with just one bite of an apple, or even a few bites, but rather wants to eat the whole damn thing.

In some ways, the IGT is the conscience of Brewerfan, constantly reminding us what the goal should always be. Nay, the expectation.

That is an impossible standard by which to live one's life, but it's the right standard for a playful pastime such as baseball. Never change, IGT. Just lighten up.

The IGT is a needed option for a sports forum like this to operate efficiently just as a cry room is necessary for a church to do the same. Sometimes people just need a space to close the door behind them and lose their minds a little without disrupting the main space/reason people have come here.

It can be tough to read through the IGTs.  In my mind, there's a huge difference between "Yeli looks lost right now; I think he needs to move down in the order" or "That's a really steep price for two rentals!" as opposed to "I've said this before - Murphy is a horrible game manager!!!" or  "Arnold gets ripped off again in this trade, like he always does!!!"  It just comes across as though you've never watched a full season of baseball in your life with these blanket judgments based on one game or one trade in late July.  And I get it - emotions run high in the middle of a game and people have to earn the benefit of the doubt.  But if Murph - back-to-back manager of the year and best record in baseball again this year - hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt with you, then no one ever will.  We're incredibly lucky as a fanbase right now to have the organizational talent we have.

Yesterday was probably my least favorite IGT of the season. And Sunday was probably my favorite. Absolute roller coaster.

Surfing through an IGT is akin to shopping at Walmart at 2 a.m. Yes, you will eventually find what you are looking for, but to get there, you're going to have to push through a few drunks, a handful of people in pajamas and fuzzy slippers, an old guy yelling at a teenage entry-level employee because his favorite brand of Metamucil was moved, and an overweight middle-aged dude riding a handicap scooter around with a dog inexplicably in the basket.

Well said. And I didn't read the IGT last night, but I can just imagine.

I relate it to, if someone is watching a game, something bad happens and you cuss up a storm or hoist the remote. Except here, you're having to take the time to cool down & actually type. So to me, it's sort of like seeing the bad thing, sitting there, taking a few deep breaths.........and THEN hoisting the remote. And I can respect the first examples you gave; I've said similar & probably worse. But when the emotions take over & lead to the exaggeration & hyperbole it sheds a bad light on who I'm sure are normally rational folks.

You're right--we are a lucky fan base, and in some ways maybe a spoiled one. But then I've always had a special appreciation for doing more with less.

I think there is a pretty big disconnect between the way the Brewers are managing the regular season and the way that the more vocal critics think the Brewers should be managing the regular season.

This year's team has clearly shown itself to be better at pitching and worse at hitting than the previous iteration. On the hitting side, management has taken a patient approach with struggling hitters. On the pitching side, they are prioritizing load management over winning as many games as possible.

Many are just done with Murphy as a manager so the complaints are likely going to be nonstop going forward. Just a reality with any long-tenured manager, we know who he is and have to live with that.

The extremely emotional, ignorant, irrational posts just get scrolled by when I’m reading. Not worth my time. But it’s a pressure release valve for the poster who needs one.

If they ARE prioritizing load management re the pitchers-----and I think you're right about that------it's even more significant that they've still won more games than anyone up to this point. And if anyone wants to say "Well, sure, but what about the post-season?"  Well, that's a large part of the reason FOR the load management.

I agree, the complaints probably will continue. If the internet existed 100 years ago I'm sure some Yankee fans would complain about Miller Huggins' incompetence. I read a Cardinal fan board or two in past years, and until then I never realized how little Tony LaRussa knew. More good, more bad, more everything in a 6 month season. I suppose it comes down to what you're more inclined towards.

Wash, rinse, repeat. It's yet another game thread where posters complain about how other posters act in the game threads. I think the game thread posters have seen you guys turn up your nose at them more than enough times at this point. I don't even post in game threads much on this site but my goodness does this discussion need to happen in literally every game thread?

Yeah……I pretty much stay away from game threads because it’s not my thing to vent and complain in real time.

But obviously some people seem to want a place to do that and it’s what game threads are……so for those like me…..best to just sit it out….most of the time.

Maybe I had too high of expectations but the Brewers being so bad at challenging on the hitter side has easily been the most disappointing part of the season for me. It's shocking how often our hitters are watching clear pitches out of the zone get called strikes and not challenging. I feel like at least 2-3 times every game there clear balls called strikes flipping a hitter/even count into an even/pitcher count. For a team that cares so much about swing decisions and count leverage seeing this be a weak point has been shocking.

If you scroll past the extremely emotional, ignorant, and irrational posts that appear every game, and the no more useful posts from those who feel compelled to comment about those irrational posts every day, you might detect that some posters who insisted that the numbers proved that the Brewers offense was one of the best in MLB might be starting to recognize that that might not be the case.

35 runs in 10 games in August does not inspire confidence that the mediocre offense from the previous 6 weeks is ready to break out. The Brewers have been able to keep winning at a good pace, and have only given up 3 games from the high point of their division lead. But there is some question that that lead might be in jeopardy as the Brewers continue the necessary load management for their exteremely young starting rotation.

Maybe some off days and the extra pitcher that can be added in September will help. But more runs would definitely take some of the burden off the pitchers.

Masterful roster manipulation but this does feel like something that shouldn't be allowed. Seems like a pretty clear loophole to the 15 day option/outright rule.

I might do opening thoughts on the upcoming game in the first page or two, before the game starts. Then maybe after the game a comment or three on what I just saw, while scrolling back a page or two. Otherwise, no thanks.

True, but I think the Player's Union cares more about the right of members to earn a major league paycheck than what teams do.

I wonder if some of these guys are shunning it because they're prioritizing leaving challenges for our catchers.

If so I'm not advocating it. The non-challenge by Vaughn in the 9th was ridiculous. Just wondering if that has something to do with it.

I've seen people speculate that but I don't buy it because we've seen our hitters look just as unwilling to use challenges while trailing late in games (cough...Andrew Vaughn last night in the 9th inning...cough)

Chicken or egg situation. It's like having two kids who just can't wait to poke the other one when mom and dad aren't looking to get a reaction.

Poster A loses his mind over something silly. Poster B tells Poster A to chill. Poster C steps in and tells Poster B they are not allowed to tell Poster A what to post. Poster B tells Poster C he also is not allowed to tell people how to post, pot meet kettle. Meanwhile Poster D and Poster F are trying to find out how many options Player 1 has remaining but they are having to shout over A, B and C.

After the game, Adult 1 and Adult 2 do a quick walk through to put the coloring books back on the shelves, pick up the scattered puzzle pieces, and restock the juice boxes so we can all do it again the next day.

Big happy family. Go Brewers.

Yeah the first time it happens that makes plenty of sense. Doing this same act multiple days a week over an entire season over multiple years gets to a point of being obnoxious. People can't control what people post in the game thread. Trying to change that is a futile effort and then turns into this constant arguing and bickering that's been ongoing for years. I'd really like to one day come into a gamethread on this site and not see a bunch of comments about people arguing about how people are commenting.

Also if poster D and F are trying to figure out how many options Player 1 has remaining they should probably learn how to use the internet better because that's a weird place to try and figure out option status of a player.

I don’t know what the answer is but they need to come up with a better way to let teams manage the last arm in their bullpen. They should loosen the roster rules in exchange for further restricting when position players can pitch.
