In the event of losing the division race, we would nearly certainly be the top WC, which is still a series at home for the WC round. I know that would be little consolation, but it’s no different than winning the division as a 3 seed, as we did in 2024,

The Cubs are good and I think we all expected them to be. They have won 9 out of their last 11. I don’t think they can continue to play THAT well. If they do, they’ll win the Central and we can only tip our cap and focus on trying to win in the playoffs.

Maybe the fans will be at the airport when the players arrive back to celebrate

Congrats on being the 6th poster I've ignored

Remember I think 2015 when Pit, STL, Cubs all won above 98 games. And I think the Pit/Cubs reward was a fricken 1 game playoff. If Cubs play out of their head and you lose the division with like 97 wins you just tip your cap.

If you don’t get the top two spots, winning the division isn’t that big of a deal

Been in first place since May 19th.

Before cutting the gap to three games a couple days ago, the last time the Cubs were that close was 2.5 games back on May 24th.

Still playing at what would be another Franchise Record 99/100 Win pace even after a GASP three game losing streak EXHALE and only one game over .500 for the month. "the offense...the offense" - General Kurtz, probably.

With the pitching match up, they will likely lose tonight. And that is fine. They are going to lose at least 16 more games this year and if they don't I'll gladly be wrong.

No one (especially regular IGT posters) thought this was a 99/100 Win team coming into the season so they are still playing with house money. No one thought they would have the best record in MLB since Murphy took over so they've really been playing with house money for three years now.

Team That Continually Exceeds Expectations Is Actually Disappointing - rejected Onions Sports headline, perhaps.

Let's say Murphy has already cost them FIVE games this year and they should instead be 80 W - 42 L. That would be a 106 Win pace for the season and I know no one thinks the Brewers are a 106 True Talent kind of team. (okay, maybe @torts does)

They cruised to relatively easy Division Wins in 2021 (five games), 2023 (nine games), 2024 (ten games), and 2025 (five games). Maybe having to fight and claw their way to the Division Title this year if that's what it comes down to will give them some momentum heading into the playoffs (though if they hold their current #1 seed or even GASP drop to #2 EXHALE they'll be getting some time off anyway).

We're not a 106 win team

Were a 107 win team

If the Brewers don't win the division I should be banned. However, they will.

Just wait until after tonight.  😀.   I see cubs won again today already.

Even if the Brewers lose they are up 3 games and have a big series coming up with them

they’ll be in first place no matter what by the end of this weekend

I wish I was as smart as you.

I just can't do it.   Morbid curiosity.

It’s the same 5-6 posters that have the most pessimistic comments. A couple actually said they don’t enjoy watching the Brewers win. 1-2 posters hate positivity and then yell “stop trying to control what people post “

I have enough people ignored (and I assume I am ignored by a good many as well). It cuts the game threads in half. Just FYI in case you haven't tried it yet you can ignore someone and their name still shows as a blocked comment and you can "show ignored comment" if you need to peel back to the curtain to see what everyone is mad about that particular day.

The Uribe one is odd in that he was warming up last night. Since he never went into the game I’m assuming we can backdate.

Injury was backdated to August 11th I believe

Man I’d be miserable if I only had 6!

I think of it as more of an indictment of how much of a jackass you have to be in order for me to ignore someone.

You had to figure that Uribe going to the IL was a good possibility the way he’s been held out the last few days.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Roberts' resources are so limited.  Guess they didn't spend enough money.

Or over paid for who they have.
