Hedging…if they win, great for me….

and if they lose, look everyone, I was right. I told you so….It’s a calming mechanism that takes the sting off defeat a bit. But to your point, I wanted them to go in on Arozarena….just so few bats being traded.

No......I want this team to win, no hedging not being anything....just want to freaking win,

Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing Picture Quote #1

Not sure what we disagree on.

Brewers are good but sure could use more clutch hitting.   76-48 is actually great,  just hope we don't fall flat like last years post season.  I think Murphy is a way better coach than Counsell ever dreamed to be.

Sorry guys it has to be said, this team is not going anywhere in the postseason with only Miz and Henderson.. We need more offense which our FO decided we did not need, I have watched every Brewers team fail becuse we don't have the offense. I understand we have some big bats in the minor leagues, but Fischer and Co. are not getting called up soon enough. Hope I am wrong.

This is said in every game thread over the last six weeks. Glad you are around to enlighten us.

I wanted the Brewers to improve the offense in the off-season.

They trade their top pitchers in the off-season before they become free agents and say that you can get more in the off-season than at the trade deadline. True enough.

But if the farm system is so deep, why not do something like package the veteran pitcher with a prospect or two to get a player who has hit in the major leagues and has a couple years of control to help the offense THIS YEAR. It’s like the Brewers goal is to have the best farm system in MLB with the tease that “the future is bright”

I don’t follow the rosters and contract status closely enough to name names, but they could have improved this year’s team by landing a 3B with some pop in his bat and not just for bunting.

That’s why I get so frustrated when the offense becomes the weak link during the season and especially in the postseason.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Their offense is pretty poor.    Like really poor.   It’s hard to get to 5 runs for them

is or going to get any better.   That’s the dispute.     You guys can argue that

are we really going to try to beat the cubs 2-1 every game.     What kind of strategy is that

You're just cherry picking stats!

I guess I don't know your opinion quite yet, do you think the Brewers offense has been sufficient lately?

Also, I don't mean to correct another man's poetry but I am pretty sure 5-7-5 is the rhythm we are looking for if posting in haikus!

Treego was the resident poet. I can't say for certain but I think he is boycotting baseball currently because of the Dodgers or something.

Well.   He won’t have to worry about that too much longer.    They won’t even have baseball next year.

Said as though toxic positivity isn't a thing (and every bit as much of a coping mechanism).  There are practitioners of both on this board.

1 - Yes brewers are top 5 in runs, though I bet the past month or two is a different story.

2 - the brewers actually did get a 3B with some pop in the offseason. Rengifro has an .846 OPS in over 100 appearances with the Padres, after posting .534 in 200+ Brewer appearances.

3 - I think the farm system is more about timing. Less flexibility with the coming CBA to maneuver. The big bats still being a year away. Lara and Pratt werent expected to add offensively and Williams had a down year. Adams and Fischer's gloves not likely to work at 3B.

No reason to fill gaps next year as plenty of batting talent will be ready to go. Dont expect any major offensive moves because they arent going to block their rookies after waiting several years to get to this point.

I would agree both are coping mechanisms, but assuredly they are not equal in toxicity?

If you have two toddlers and your house is a mess and you ask for help cleaning it so one toddler starts coloring pictures of flowers and trees and taping them to the walls while the other toddler pouts and walks around farting in every room... Neither one is helping clean the house but there is an obvious favorite child in that scenario, no?

That isn’t cherry picking a stat. It is using one that is irrelevant as it relates to the current state of the offense.

Of course the last two months have been a dramatically different story, but there are some people who don’t want to talk about it or recognize it.
Jake McKibbin’s recent story discusses it in detail and the usual suspects haven’t objected to that.

Rengifo’s performance in over 500 PA with the Angels last year does not scream “3B with some pop”.

His performance with the Padres looks more like the outlier.

Disgree.  Horrible comparison.  I have two kids that very, very different.  One of my kids is very much like me, the other is very different and I do struggle understanding their thought process.  Netiher is a favorite, its just who they are.  I don't spend time trying to cancel one of them.  I spend my time considering their perspecitve and unerstanding that not everyone has to have the same perspective that I do.  I certainly don't spend 50% of my time correcting their perspective.

I was speaking metaphorically.
