Since they need innings more than they need quality, they can just rinse and repeat with a bunch of regular guys like they already have. They've proven to be able to get MLB-standard run-prevention with guys that throw strikes and keep it in the yard. Just keep adding AAAA-depth with one or two qualities/pitches that they can trust in tough counts.

I think they should do the same thing they did last season. Trade fringe starting-quality guys (e.g. Durbin, Ortiz, Frelick) for more Sproats/Harrisons/Drohans, and wait to see which guys stick.

Is Ortiz a fringe type guy though, or does he have some REAL solid trade value?  If he hits like he has since July next season, he is an actual starter on a lot of teams.  You can't beat his glove, add his offense to the package, and I'd think there would be some teams that would come knocking if it was known he was available.  Question is, who is the real Joey Ortiz?

I'd part ways with Sal in a heartbeat.  Love the guy, but he isn't in our future plans, so if someone would offer a decent package, it's a no-brainer.

I'd also take offers on Mitchell.  We got that non-injury season that we all hoped for, and I think the end result is a bit underwhelming.  Not a chance in hell he goes uninjured 2 seasons in a row, if someone wants him, and we get something we need, I'm all for trading him in the offseason.

One of the best infield defenders in MLB, I think everyone can agree on that.

The bat is a little tricker, his hot streak since July 4th has been incredible, but it's also been incredibly lucky with an actual .393 wOBA but only a .306 expected wOBA under the hood.

For his career with the Brewers he has a .299 actual wOBA, a .292 expected wOBA, and a 91 wRC+. Combine that with his top end defense and out of 280 players with at least 800 PA since 2024 his 7.3 WAR comes in 78th.

Personally I'd keep him around barring some team making an offer you can't refuse. If Made isn't interested in signing an extension before the season, and thus needs to marinate in AAA for awhile to get that extra year of service time (barring whatever changes might happen in the new CBA), Joey is the starting 3B on opening day.

If Jesus extends and is the opening day 3B, Joey is a perfect 4th infielder to spell Turang against the occasional lefty, and give Pratt/Made a day off every week or so as they acclimate to their first full MLB seasons.

For a guy who hasn't proven anything, he's getting pretty old.  A 2.9 career WAR for someone who is 29 is pretty mediocre.

He isn't durable.  He doesn't get good results.  He has no established track record.  He likely will not make our postseason roster (or atleast shouldn't).   Looks like a 1 year/$2-3 million contract with an invite to major league spring training to me.

If the guy didn't start as a Dodgers prospect, he probably wouldn't be in MLB anymore honestly.

Coming off a much worse year he got $13 million guaranteed. This past year he pitched like a #2 starter.  Yes he has not been good with the Brewers (the Brewers also went and changed his pitch makeup) but overall he had a good season and is fairly young for a FA. The only thing keeping him under $20 million a year is his health concerns.

I seen some pretty hot takes on this board, but May not being on the postseason roster ranks right up there. Not only will he be on the roster, he is most likely the G3 starter (with a short leash)

What exactly has he done here that warrants a playoff spot? The guy has been a complete trainwreck with a 5.61 ERA and short starts that have stretched our bullpen. I guess he could be the long man in a blowout where we are down 7 runs...   if we go by results, the guy doesn't make the roster, period.

It depends on how many pitchers we carry.  Teams are strictly capped at a maximum of 13 pitchers in the postseason.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about Savant telling me May’s pitches are similar to both McLean and Sproat. I assume there is effectiveness under the hood, somewhere.
