I thought I remember Andrew Abbott giving us fits, but I could be misremembering. Anyway, he kind of sucks today.

Colin Rea is presumably the long reliever for Chicago today. He is a flyball pitcher who has not had much success this season.

Is it me or do the Cubs have the worst pithcing staff of all the probable playoff teams?  Seems like it to me and by a decent margin.

Yep.  But don’t they have a bunch of dudes coming back.    It’s really their relievers who are bad right now

It's been wild watching that staff 'develop' through the year. injuries and patchwork attempts. then they reload and bring in a half dozen or more arms at the deadline... give up Rojas and Ballesteros as well as half a dozen more prospects.

... and they remain in shambles.

Tigers walk it off against the Dodgers.  Current leads: 3.5 vs Dodgers, 4 vs Braves.  I don't even list the Cubs anymore (jk, it's 8).

That comp pick was basically the comp pick that we would have received if we had held Burnes, though, which the Orioles used to select prospect Cadine Bodine at #30 in 2025. So that part of the trade is essentially net zero.

Speaking of, today PCA went 4-6 with 3 HR's, 6 RBI's and 4 runs scored.  I know we hate him, but wow, is he good.

But it has to be included, no? The Orioles did allow us to pick a year earlier than we would have otherwise which gave us access to Burke.

If it unfair to call the trade Burnes/Bodine -> Ortiz/Hall/Burke?
