I wonder what they’ll do with Wilson after today. Presumably they’ll try to get about 3 IP out of him today. That likely makes him available again on Sunday after Miz pitches his 2 innings, but they may want to use that day to get 1 final tune up inning for guys. 
 

kinda feels mean, but I wonder if they DFA him after today to make room for Grant Anderson tomorrow.

I thought Murphy said that Miz's last start was a planned short one, but that his last start this weekend would be a normal lengthened one to get him ready for the postseason?

I believe that is correct and makes sense with the extra time off, you still want him to be able to go 100 pitches if he is dealing. I'd love to see another Maddux in game 1.

If Wilson's being brought in here. who's going down? I assume it's the guy they brought up yesterday to replace Gordon. 

Mildly surprised this isn't Drohan's start - he hasn't pitched since Friday in Balt, and Philly is not great against lefties. Whatevs. He'll likely be one of the arms today, anyway.

I was kind of surprised they wouldn't have Drohan as the opener with Phillies lineup but I'd guess they want him to get more adjusted to coming out of the bullpen than making the best effort to win the game using him as an opener.

Wilson was removed as the probable pitcher on Gameday, so that may be what's happening.

Possibly though I thought it was surprising he was listed as the probable before he was actually on the roster. Typically it's still TBA until the player actually gets added to the active roster.

Bryse most definitely knows. Lest we forget when he was DFA'd earlier this year and elected FA to re-sign with the Brewers two days later and immediately be back on the MLB roster.

That is a great looking chart!  You gotta especially love giving Ashby's arm some comeback time after (arguably) chronic overuse this season.

I honestly wonder if the Brewers aren't being intentional with Ashby's usage, specifically lackthereof, recently. He looked especially tired in October last year, even with the bye. Maybe they believe a rested Ashby will lead to better October results.

Feels hard to believe but Ashby was actually used much more aggressively last year. Last year he pitched his first MLB inning of the season in game 53. He ended up pitching 66.2 innings over the final 110 games of the year which is a 98 inning pace. He probably throws two more innings this year and ends up with 87 innings thrown.

Would also imagine the emergence of shutdown DL Hall has something to do with that.

Though looking at it more it's probably more to do with him being used more as a multi-inning reliever last year and more as a single inning leverage reliever this year. Last year his 162 G pace was 63 G and 98 IP. This year he's going to end up with 75 G and 87 IP. 

I wonder what is considered a heavier workload between those two.
