2026 World Series Thread: News/Notes/Predictions/Miscellaneous. What's on your mind?

If the Brewers play as well as they have in the playoffs to this point (Reg Season best record/divisional bye/Padres/Dodgers) they will win the World Series. It's that simple. They won something like 72% of their series this season, they have a young, hungry, healthy roster and their pitching is lined up. I don't think they will sweep. I think Rassmussen will win one of his starts, and the Rays are good enough to steal one or two more games. But I just don't think they are at the level of the Padres or the Dodgers.

Everyone, including Vegas is saying Brewers in 6. And if I couldn't put money on Game 6, and was forced to say Brewers in 5 or Brewers in 7, I think its more likely the Brewers win in 5.

I think the series will test the emotional discipline of the defenders. I think they MUST focus on securing one out at a time. This is true for both teams. Secure the out for the lead runner. Don't take putouts at first for granted. Don't rush your throws! Hit the cutoff man. I suspect the Brewers will need to play Ortiz at 3rd simply to help defend against Chandler Simpson. Ortiz playing tight, with Pratt overlapping deep behind him.

I hope the Brewers have been doing PFPs all week.

I am not looking forward to Game 2. If I  am the Rays I am leading off with Simpson and having him bunt to make Henderson field it.

First of all, the Milwaukee Brewers will be playing for a World Series title a week from today! Incredible. Indescribable. But it needs to be said over and over from now until then.

Second, as we await the outcome of the ALCS which hopefully goes to 7 games, early predictions on the first pitch for Games 1 and 2?

I'll start with Bud Selig in Game 1 and Robin Yount in Game 2......

McCalvy reporting that Nick Martinez is starting Game 1 to give Rasmussen and Freddy extra rest.

Advantage of clinching early. Gotta win it on the field still though.

Getting anxious for the start of the game tomorrow.

Any time I think about it my stomach turns.   Like holy bleep this is happening

Does MLB or Fox dare allow the CB Bucknor incident to be referenced in anyway on the broadcast?

I was mad as hell at the guy at the time, but after Jomboy's video and some passage of time, I just kinda feel bad for him. Wish him well in his retirement.

I think how I feel about tomorrow is encapsulated by the fact that, if you offered me a 1-1 split, I wouldn't take it.

I want to see this play out. I want to experience every pitch. I also feel we're better and am at peace with whatever the result. If we lose, so be it. Let's just get out there, play our brand of baseball, and enjoy the game this whole fanbase loves.

It's a heck of a ride isn't it?

I feel so fortunate to be able to experience this. I'm soaking it all in. Quietly confident, but anything can (and sometimes does) happen.

Man, I don't know how to describe the feeling I just had and this could all be hogwash in 1/2 a day when rosters are announced...

.. but up until a little while ago I would have told you there was a less than a 10% chance of Woodruff making the WS roster.

I suddenly had this weird realization that if makes the roster he is going to start Gm 4.

The move makes May available at all times out of the pen and we are going to need RHP for the Caminero/Diaz combo in perpetuity. Murph has talked about extra innings multiple times re: Woodruff in a way kind of holding it against him - but I think that might be him playing coy - because May becomes the depth that can pitch forever if that scenario is needed. Murph also talked about the injury rule of not being able to replace Woody if he gets hurt again ... but if you are asking him to start Gm 4 you are more than likely not using him at all after that anyway.

I saw the video above of Woodruff talking about Uecker and he was far too happy. My first thought was "he would not be this happy if he has been told he isn't playing.." but I would agree with most of you that his inclusion would be a surprise. So IF he does make the roster ... I don't know that the Brewers would love the risk of using him as a reliever for an inning in Gm2 or something and then finding out he didn't recover after and is unavailable. So the only way he makes the roster - in my mind - is to start.

If Woodruff feels he can get outs and the doctors say he can throw the baseball...

I think he is starting Gm 4 IF he makes the roster.
