Reflecting on Game 5 and wondering how much Cash starting Ras in Game 2 was a forced choice. Was Ras too gassed to go Game 1? If not, it sure seems like that, along with not going to the higher leverage bullpen arms in the 7th, was the mistake of the series.

Hindsight, obviously. And it does seem more like Martinez might have been the only available option. But that worked out for the Brewers for sure.

I'm quite sure the Brewers outlasted the Rays in the end. It's a long season, and those days off before the WS certainly helped IMHO.

I’ve been watching replays of the games and I find myself getting excited all over again.  Mitchell just hit a bomb in game 4 of the Dodgers series to put us up 5-4 in the 6th.

I know it's been a few days, and a little part of me expects to wake up, but I think it's safe now.

This October has been transformational.  And amazing.

Watching Milwaukee post-season baseball had gotten hard.  The regular seasons were great- I never dreamed watching this team in the 90s that I'd see so many 90-win teams. But watching the Brewers in October was like watching the same sad movie over and over again.  It got to the point where the ending was inevitable, and if I had something else to do, anything else to do, I'd do it.  I'd check in on the game, but if they were down, I'd rarely check back.

For whatever reason, this year was different.  Each game, it seemed, was played out to erase the bad memories.  Specifically, it was Game 2 of the NLDS that changed the whole rest of the playoffs for me.  How I watched the games was indescribably different after that game in the best of ways.  Each game became "I wonder how they are going to top the last game?"  Not if they would, but how.

When Milwaukee won in San Diego, this seemed inevitable.  With each passing game, another demon was laid to rest. Can't win playoff road games? Check.  Can't beat LA in the playoffs?  Check.  Can't win the LCS? Check. No killer instinct? CHECK.

The team that seemingly found new and creative ways to lose most heartbreakingly found new and creative ways to win improbably.  Down in the 9th against the best closer in baseball?  An opportunity.  Not-enough-power-to-win-it-all? Let's use home runs to crush LA's soul.  By the time we got to Game 4, "here we go again" was dead.  Game 4 was just another reminder that this team was special, and just a reminder that even the best teams lose once in a while.  Game 5 was never in doubt, not because the Brewers couldn't lose, but because this team wasn't going to.

October transformed me from wondering if Milwaukee would ever win a World Series to wondering how the story was going to be told.  Not would the Brewers have heroes, but who would they be? It was truly about the journey, because the ending?

It was inevitable.

Still not quite sure what to do or how to process everything. You wait your whole life for something and then it happens so quickly.

Might need the entire lockout for it to truly set in. lol

All the clips I am bombarded with from the parade are so epic. I wish I could have been there! Weirdly I realized this is the first season besides Covid I didn’t go to a game since I think 83. Too busy trying to make a life. Brewers have always been a bond between Dad and I. Will never forget the summer of 92. even all these years in Alaska I always came back and took him to a game. And he didn’t go this year either for the first time since he got out of Vietnam. Just wild our one championship and we never saw them in person.

The fact Ras started Game 5 on short rest and had 60 pitches to use is pretty much proof he could have started Game 1.

My guess is he wanted Martinez on the road and figured why not Game 1 and let Ras have an extra days rest. It would have been a monumental momentum swing if they had won Game 1. The second they lost it, they put their backs against a wall…and when they lost Game 2? Full disaster was on display.

To me, it seemed like classic overmanaging and overthinking in the postseason. Maybe he knew he was severely disadvantaged on paper and by recent results, but his decisions were poor across the board. But also, it may have not mattered. The Brewers made pitching a nightmare for his team and their starters kept leaving games early. He didn’t have the pen the Brewets had to do that. Murphy may have emptied his pen in a Game 4 loss, but even that aggressive move caused Cash to blow his Game 5 starter and use his ace bullpen arm for two innings. Using Ashby in a loss seemed bad, but the Padres had to match that and we had way more arrows in the quiver for the next day. A close loss was as good as a win, because the Brewers went into Game 5 a freight train and the Rays broke down on the tracks to simply force that Game 5.

In the end, it was a classic example of why teams never force a Game 6. If you go down 3-0, you are outmatched and it isn’t fluky. You may put everything you have into Game 4 to sneak a win…but a whippin’ is coming Game 5.

However, I’m confident someday in my lifetime, someone will choke the 3-0 lead away in the World Series. Thankfully, we aren’t going to be that page in history…this team was too focused and too good.

I don't see how any other result is possible (even with postseason not counting in voting).

The real question is if Murphy is a Hall of Famer.

You think you can hurt me? I watch the Packers in January. You can't hurt me.

If this has been posted and I missed it, I apologize, but... goodness this hit me so hard.

First, Ted looks amazing. I don't know what I expected him to look like these days, but he has aged exceedingly well.

Hearing from all the guys from 82 was amazing, and you could tell how much they felt it, but for anyone that ever thinks these guys are in it simply for the money and don't care as much as fans (and yeah, more today and some don't) you can tell how much that loss weighed on him and how much this removed a weight from him.

Btw, very interesting stuff from the most recent Marquette poll. The Brewers only slightly trail the Packers these days in "fans" statewide 49% vs. 54%. And actually have more combined fans + "casuals" than the Packers at 77% vs. 76%.

Now, some of this may be due to World Series fever as the poll was literally conducted in the midst of this run, but pretty remarkable development for this franchise.

Brewers were also the most "searched" team statewide over the last 5 years.

Interest in the Brewers really took off for a few reasons (coming from someone that has lived their life in the northern half of Wisconsin).

1) The success helps a ton, obviously. But that did not favors for the Bucks in the long run much.

2) But also, the roof. The ability to have group trips, school trips, and make mini-vacations with 100% certainty the game(s) would be played changed things dramatically. People started going and it trickled from there. My family did yearly trips to Miller Park, we would have never gone to County Stadium. Too risky worrying about weather.

The 1982 team had five Hall of Famers. Any chance we hit that number again?

That remains to be seen. As we all know, this is a very young team with guys in their lower twenties. Chourio and Miz you would think have the best odds. Where would you put Contreras at? He's on a trajectory to become one but I think needs a couple more All Star seasons to solidify his chances. I don't think Yelich gets in. He had an amazing two year stretch in 18-19 but hasn't been near that level since. I'm not familiar with his resume as a Marlin so a lot depends on that.

It was so awesome seeing the Hall of Famers from that 1982 team there and give a few words. Too bad Don Sutton isn't alive to also experience this. He always said that Milwaukee was the most fun he had in his career and that every ball player should play at least one year there. As great as this season turned out to be, in my heart, this 2026 team is only the second greatest in Brewers history.

Likely:
- Miz
- Murphy
- Chourio

Solid chance:
- Yelich
- Turang
- Contreras

Long shot:
- Woodruff
- Pratt
- Ashby
- Henderson
- Uribe

Yeah, I get the nostalgia, I was a Senior in high School in 82, but this team, this team is by far the best team we've had, putting all the lore of the 1982 aside, it just is...  As much as I love those guys from the past, they didn't win it, but oh so close.  The pain of that 82 team still resides, but the 2026 team finally lightened that load, so I'm willing to say out loud, that the 2026 team is the BEST team we've ever had!
