  1. I think the Brewers can still be active in August. While a lot of teams are in it right now with more playoff spots, teams will drop off in August and try to save some money. Looking at the Giants with the likes of Conforto and Canha.
  2. I know many are down on Freddy but looking forward to watching him pitch the next couple of months, think he will step up and deliver.
  3. I saw in passing that Brett Phillips signed with the Yankees but like the announcer assumed it was a different guy. Guess not.
  4. Can only imagine what kind of contract Chourio would have received if they took a wait and see approach on an extension with him. Don't care about his trade value, the Brewers have him for his twenties and somebody gets to overpay for his thirties.
  5. Greenberg also has a lifetime OPS over 1.000, two World Series rings, a movie and the Hebrew Hammer nickname long before Braun.
  6. Doubt it, he has been pretty bad and Hoskins has that role. Not a lefty so not an upgrade over Bauers either
  7. By letting your phenom carry more and more of the load as the season goes on. He may be the next franchise player with back problems after he carries this team into the playoffs.
  8. If they don't pick up somebody at the deadline might give Wiemer another chance with the way he is playing and the OF being so lefty heavy.
  9. He is a good target but that is a large amount for next year. Would be pretty set with starting pitching next year though with Peralta/Bassitt/Woodruff/Myers/Rhea/Civale/Hall. He's had a real nice career after he reached 30+, didn't do much of anything in his twenties.
  10. So with Joe Ross having his last rehab on 7/19 is there any insight if he is starting Wednesday. Had a horrrible game but don't know what else they can do with him at this point and they need a starter.
  11. Teams may be willing to give up something, a lottery ticket, even though they are aware of the Brewers situation. If the Brewers get rid of somebody they have to go through the DFA process which in itself results in trades like when the Brewers obtained Hudson and gave up an asset. So if there is a team interested anyway they might as well speed up the process and get the guy they want.
  12. That fight may have cost Uribe a lot of service time and money. If he gets hurt in the majors he get gets both the money and service time. Will still be well below a year after this season and has to serve a suspension.
  13. I do wonder if the Brewers would keep Zastryzny over Milner. Milner has been real bad against lefties this year and going to continue to see an increase in salary with his last year of arbitration in '25 while Zastryny will still be at the minimum. Neither has options so pretty much a guarantee that one or both has to be DFA or part of a minor trade once some of these guys come back.
  14. Contreras could be tough but should consider talking with Turang about one. Next year will be his last year at the minimum then 4 years of arbitration since he will be super two. Maybe get a season or two of free agency when he is 30/31.
  15. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Ashby was one of the guys DFA to make room for others getting off the 60 day IL. Doesn't mean the Brewers gave up on him but gives them more flexiblity since Ashby likely wouldn't get claimed.
  16. Nice to get Rutledge in game 1, set the tone early with an easy win and go from there.
  17. Losing games like this is frustrating but one thing that gives hope is the number of reinforcements expected in the coming months.
  18. I would opt for keeping three catchers at least until the trade deadline to make sure Sanchez can handle the backup catcher role. They can afford to option Monasterio once Ortiz is back. After that there only a few more weeks until they get another roster spot. Haase would be an affordable backup option next year as well, especially with the Quero injury delaying his major league debut.
  19. I think the Tigers have incentive to trade him with his injury history and unlikely extension with Boras as his agent. It would take a lot and don't think the proposed is enough, there will be a lot of competition.
  20. It is tough to fit guys in this year but Isaac Collins may be nice to have in 2025 and beyond, could fit the back OF role well and might actually be a decent switch hit option off the bench. Would prefer him over Brewer if giving a 40 man spot after the season.
  21. Very true, Williams has been great, expect him to be the closer when he returns and for him to be traded in the off season.
  22. A DFA would not be needed once Civale makes it to the 26 man as Clarke was already DFA today.
  23. It's a great story, I certainly though he was never going to return to All-Star Form after 2022. 2023 was a glimmer and hope and he built upon that in 2024. Even nationally you can tell that fans root for him since he is leading the NL OF vote. Never thought I would utter the words of Yelich being an All Star Starter again but here we are.
  24. I just want Keuchel bumped from the Dodgers series.
  25. That was one of the strangest year's for a starting pitcher that I can remember. Started the year strong, had nine complete games which led the team and even had an ERA under two heading into late May. Then he had that long losing streak and even ended up as the closer in September.
