I think it was somewhere in this game thread where somebody mentioned the game thread isn't about big picture and just this game. However, this game stings less for me because Chourio is the guy and not a couple years down the road, this season. Exciting times.
If Rodriguez pitches well they won't need to bring up another starter barring another injury. There is also only so many pitchers they can allocate to the 40 man roster, currently at 27 pitchers. Yes, there are 6 on the 60 man IL but eventually some will come back. Think they will give Ashby another shot if needed and also looking at Clarke as a potential starter but good to have Patrick as an option.
Not really, they will have doubters until they can prove themselves in the playoffs. Still concerned about starting pitching but that wasn't really a problem during the series and Ashby's performance gives me a little hope there. Will likely need a RH hitting OF upgrade at some point unless Chourio figures it out by the end of July. Getting Williams back makes the bullpen better and they win game 2 with a better pitcher in that spot.
It is true, if Drew Rasmussen was a Cy Young winner it still wouldn't be a bad trade. Bad players don't stick. Yelich and Peralta were bad trades for the Marlins and Mariners but wouldn't be listed as a bad trade. Reese Olson would be a great player to have on the roster so makes no sense to ignore that.
The Yelich trade isn't complex, no doubt one of the best Brewers trades ever, the Marlins received negative in return. Even if you don't agree with the extension, it wasn't part of the trade.
Also, agree with the point that limiting it to active players by nature is going to exclude bad trades. Even though the Brewers are in first I think most would like some better starting pitching so that Norris trade will continue to sting.
Pretty much the entire bullpen right now is filled with unproven guys when acquired. Payamps, Peguero, Milner, Hudson, Megill, Wilson, Koenig. The starter today Rea as well.
Caught this game way late but nice to see Perkins have such a great game both on offense and defense, he really needed that. He was super hot to start then freezing cold, hopefully he can gain some consistency over the rest of the year.
Well yeah, if the Brewers wanted to give Hader $100 million guaranteed they could have had him back plus Payamps. Can't really pull off any trades without taking money into consideration.
It doesn't look like it is here in this thread but right after this happened there was a report by I believe Rosiak that eveything was fine and I just knew that everything was't just fine. I would agree, super annoying.
This is a game that really could set the tone the rest of the series. Brown doesn't usually go more than a few at the most. Get to the bullpen and have a worn out bullpen the final two games.
Since the Brewers struggles against lefties continue have to mention how well David Fry is playing for the Guardians. 395/531/737/1267 against everybody for the month of May and 1426 OPS overall against lefties for the year. Along with Daniel Norris for Reese Olson and Matt Bush for Antoine Kelly, J.C. Mejia for David Fry is another recent bad trade for bad relief pitchers.
Don't really think that is true, I use a Yahoo e-mail for more promotional/sales/coupon type e-mails but still get a valid e-mail now and then but can go days or even a week before logging into that e-mail account.
With White looking like a DFA and Ross hurt it might make sense to bring back Uribe. Have not heard anything about his suspension being upheld or reduced so assume he is good to pitch.
As much as I don't think they will extend Contreras it is also obvious it will be a topic in the Milwaukee media for years to come so better get used to it.
The bench is very weak right now with Roller, Miller, Monasterio and Perkins. Pretty much any pinch hit is going to be a downgrade unless a bench guy is starting. If Murphy puts in his "A" lineup right now he needs to stick with it.
