  1. Oliver Dunn 0/10 no walks Capra 3/20 no walks Moncada sporting a 111wRC+ with LAA not feeling great about any of that
  2. I love Woody but I can't believe we gave him $17.5m if we knew this was his injury return timeline. 100 innings of 4.00 era is probably about the best case projection right now. 3.xx era may be possible but I don't see it year 1 after injury and rust.
  3. What did he make, $11m last year? He probably wasn’t returning calls offering the veteran minimum or looking to work his way back to the majors through a minors deal. If he was open to those things he wouldn’t be retired.
  4. I’ve gone through that list in my head a few times and I really can’t figure it out. I think it has to be the lefty explanation. His numbers were awesome last year and when you’re talking about the 26th man on the roster, you don’t need to nitpick medicals or anything like that. Sometimes we add a 26th man for about 2 weeks and then DFA him for a shiny new toy. That and probably some pitching metric thing which may or may not turn out to be a complete fail in this case. That or maybe someone like Murphy or a pitching coach just disagreed with the FO and said they needed a vet for that spot and they gave in.
  5. There was the article from a few weeks ago that said we had about the 16th best rotation in MLB and I still believe that. If it was re ranked based on only who is healthy though we are bottom 3 easily.
  6. Yeah the counter to this is definitely to just pitch outside. If the batter isn't a big power guy I don't think you will ever give up a HR if you stay outer 3rd of the zone against a torpedo bat.
  7. Are we firing the home plate umps and replacing them with robots yet or do I still have to wait a few years
  8. Cmon Civale it doesn't take a lot to impress me at this point. Like a lead off HR and going in to the 2nd down 1-0 would have me cheering.
  9. This is the unofficial end of the Coby Mayo thread
  10. If I remember correctly Chourio was a slow starter the last 2 years at least, perhaps the last 3
  11. My logical side agrees but my gut says that Contreras is the new Molina, he has catcher genetics and he's going to be catching to the early/mid 30s. Anyway the Brewers just can't do it, they have to trade him sadly. They pay outfielders because it's the lowest risk.
  12. They are going to make a lot of roster moves around the fringe players over the next month so a guy like Collins is going to have to impress immediately if he's going to stick
  13. They are just going to use the cash to sign him again off waivers in June
  14. Pratt and Mis is probably one of the more realistic trade proposals. Baltimore could go a little younger with Pratt so they clear an immediate log jam plus get some pitching. We just don't have any other SP to offer like Freddy. It's been mentioned though, I think we would get out bid by a team with a better offer that includes better MLB starting pitching.
  15. I don't follow MiLB options as close as others but guys like Black and Durbin will often get thrown to AAA to start the year to hoard guys like Capra and Canha. I am expecting to see that again this year to some capacity.
  16. I thought Bauers was the better roster fit, wondering what the argument is for Canha. Maybe vs. LHP? I was thinking Canha is likely going to have a better offensive season but Bauers fits the roster better because he is LH and is a good defensive sub at 1b.
  17. I prefer Mona because Capra minor league stats were weak the last 2 years. But honestly I was hoping both would get replaced by a FA and I'm not too attached to either.
  18. Quintana and Tyler Anderson IMO. Quintana is essentially the 5th starter anyway which gives him an extra couple days. Plus I think they would send him out there for 3 innings over any alternative. Tyler Anderson seems the most likely but could be a number of guys like C Rod. Think Logan Henderson is a no right now, just too green and they aren’t desperate enough.
  19. When I heard about all of them my first thought was just thankfully not arm or shoulder injury. I think oblique is 1 to 2 months and then low risk after that?
  20. It's fair. We lack high end talent but have decent depth. I think with run prevention we will be top 10 in ERA easily barring disaster. I thought last year's starting rotation was pretty awful honestly and it's a miracle what they accomplished.
  21. I'll go on record and say I think it was a mistake. Looking forward to bumping this thread in 8 months when we might have the answer (he could be a 2-3 year project though).
  22. You can't say Mayo is blocked, so he should be cheap. There are still 28 other teams potentially bidding. Plus I'm not even sure he's really blocked and they can't find ABs between 1b/3b/dh/LF.
  23. Mayo is a top 20 prospect, he's borderline untradable. I feel like those guys are getting traded less and less. If we were shopping Burnes again with 1 year of control I don't think we would get offered Mayo.
  24. Was thinking there is no way Jace Peterson is still playing but he's 34 and got a few PAs with Arizona last year
  25. Capra had over 400 very mediocre PAs in AAA last year, not sure he could do anything in ST to win the job outright. Maybe can fight his way to the OD roster or they find a way to stash him in AAA again.
