  1. & now Kevin Garcia has left the yard for the third time this year, 8-0.
  2. With a 9.49 ERA and 5.23 FIP, Griffin Tobias has had the roughest go of the teenage ACL pitchers in the early going but he goes 3U3D in the 7th to get some positive momentum going.
  3. After Quintana advanced to third on an errant pick off throw Roderick Flores singled him home for a seventh run.
  4. Quintana stays hot with his second double & second RBI of the game (plus a single, walk & two stolen bags) to make it a 6-0 lead.
  5. With only 68 pitches to get thru five Dubanewicz is back for the sixth and goes fly out, walk, fly out before a mound visit. Looks like that’s that at 5.2 IP | 4 H | 1 BB | 3 K as Griffin Tobias is on and secures the third out of the inning with a four pitch K.
  6. Frederi walked on a wild pitch scoring the fifth ACL Brewers run in the fourth inning. Dubanewicz didn’t seem to mind the long sit down giving up just a two out single while also notching his third strikeout top of five.
  7. & Handelfry comes thru with the RBI single, 3-0 lead. Then Quintana stays hot with an RBI single of his own, 4-0.
  8. Dubanewicz worked around a pair of singles to put up another zero in the fourth. In the bottom half a Corobo walk, Kevin Garcia double and Engel Paulino sac fly scored a second run for the Zona Crew. Ortuno walks and we’ve got runners on the corners and a mound visit before Handelfry comes up trying to add on.
  9. Tyler Bryant on for the eighth and goes 4U3D (1 BB | 2 K) to hold the Shuckers 2-0 lead.
  10. Dubanewicz got the first two batters of the third and was up 0-2 on the #9 hitter before giving up his first hit of the game, a double. Bounces back and gets a groundout to end the inning.
  11. After Nate Peterson went 3U3D (1 K) in the seventh Biloxi tacks on an insurance run in their half with a Darrien Miller walk (wild pitch) to third on a Garrett Spain fly out (another wild pitch) getting the job done.
  12. After an Ortuno walk - Handelfry K - Ortuno CS sequence left the bases empty with two outs bottom of one Quintana doubled and Frederi singled to get ACL Brewers on the board first. Meanwhile Dubanewicz puts up another 1-2-3 in the second.
  13. Carolina goes final at 10-0. Garrett Hodges pitched the last two scoreless frames (2 H | 1 BB | 2 K) to complete the shutout.
  14. Cornielle with a 4U3D sixth (1 BB | 2 K) and now Nate Peterson is on for the seventh trying to protect the 1-0 Shuckers lead.
  15. How about a little Arizona Complex action ?? Juan Ortuno 3B Handelfry Encarnacion CF Jorge Quintana SS Frederi Montero 1B Roderick Flores 2B Luis Corobo DH Kevin Garcia C Jadyn Fielder LF Engel Paulino RF Jayden Dubanewicz went three up three down (1 K) in the first.
  16. Two out rally for NASH in the fifth…Seigler walk, Quero single, Dalbec RBI single makes it a 3-2 Sounds lead.
  17. NASH has evened things up at two each in the fifth. Got one in the third on a Zamora single, stolen base, wild pitch, and a Jimmy Herron sac fly. Second run was manufactured in the fourth with a Dalbec walk, Rosario single, Alfaro ground out and Raynel Delgado sac fly. Josh Maciejewski has filled in admirably on short notice allowing one of Woody’s runners and one of his own over 3.1 IP with 3 H | 0 BB | 4 K.
  18. Cornielle cruising with five scoreless of 2 H | 1 HBP | 3 K work on 67 pitches (42 strikes). Shuckers got on the board bottom four with a Darrien Miller single (balk) and Garrett Spain RBI single.
  19. Mudcats putting up another big inning in the seventh capped off by a Luis Peña RBI triple (Jesus Made also added a RBI single earlier). Now 10-0 Carolina.
  20. Cornielle worked around a runners on the corners (HBP and single) one out jam in the first by striking out the next two batters. Then registered a 1-2-3 second with a third strikeout. Luis Lara leadoff double was stranded in the first.
  21. Literal, Metaphorical, and Existential OUCH for Woody. Dang.
  22. Yeah, the speed is one aspect of it and they’ve been pretty good again with RISP this year at 624 PAs (5th) of 106 wRC+ (10th) leading to 201 RBI (8th). Not quite up to last year’s output of 1,726 PAs (2nd) of 122 wRC+ (4th) leading to 565 RBI (3rd) though. Of course last year with Adames their .190 ISO with RISP ranked 5th versus this year’s .123 ISO with RISP coming in at 24th.
  23. Over his largest samples Jeferson put up... - a 757 OPS (106 wRC+) in Carolina (320 PAs) - a 779 OPS (105 wRC+) in Biloxi (381 PAs) Looking at some of the Sounds this year there is Monasterio (757 OPS | 107 wRC+) and Clarke (724 OPS | 102 wRC+) in that same kind of general range Quero has found himself in over larger samples. Think an OPS over 700 should be doable for Jeferson once he gets up to speed.
  24. They are 6th in singles and 3rd in walks going back to the start of 2024. BRef tracks stolen base opportunities under Manager Tendencies, so far this year 570 chances to steal second are 4th most and they have attempted a steal 13.9% of the time, the third highest rate. Their 385 chances to steal 3rd have only been 8th most this year, but they have attempted a steal 3.9% of the time the second highest rate. Brewers baserunners have come around to score 33% of the time, tied for 4th highest this year. They take the extra base 48% of the time, also 4th highest in MLB. They are also tops in Reach On Error this year with 19, which could also be influenced by the team speed. Put it altogether and the Brewers are 6th in runs scored over the last two years despite a 100 wRC+ (15th) and a .147 ISO (21st). Pretty insane, really. To quote Jarrod Dyson, "That's what speed do."
  25. It all started last year when they posted +19.8 BsR, most in MLB. So far this year they have already put up +9.5 BsR in only 61 games. Over the last two seasons their +29.3 BsR is almost a dozen runs better than ARI in second at +17.6.
