  1. Don't circumvent the cuss filter, just choose a different word.
  2. Welcome! It seems like yes, anyone will be able to watch, blackouts are a thing of the past.
  3. It seems like people have this conception that every team takes in the same amount of revenue, and it's just the evil small market owners that refuse to put in their own money unlike the benevolent big-market billionaires. That's not how it works. There is fundamental structural inequity in baseball. If you're a big market and you make a ton of money - guess what, your GM has more money to spend! So the direct response to when our ownership will "pony the hell up" is: never. But it seems to me this sort of argument is disingenuous, or at least tautological: What lineup is able to win 4 playoff series - well the one that won 4 playoff series, of course. That is ONE team each year. Are all the other playoff teams fatally flawed? Or just maybe is that how playoffs work? If the Dodgers fail to get to the WS, is that a fundamental flaw in their lineup (I mean, they're seriously lacking in pitching, so maybe)? Or just October randomness? But it's no fun to ascribe to randomness when you can instead hold someone accountable for.
  4. That's not true. He gets a 4M buyout either year regardless of who doesn't pick up the option. It's just deferred money.
  5. Maybe that's more true of Devin than others, but he can still get his FB into the high 90s. I think it's just a general rule that if you aren't locating as a pitcher, MLB hitters give you no margin for error when you have to come into the zone. That's why hitters counts are so dangerous. We've seen it with other pitchers too - Peguero and Uribe come to mind (obviously Hader before that) - they had days when they were great, and days where they had no idea where the ball was going. I think the point in the article (Matt's I think) about Devin going crossfire post-injury was an intriguing one. I still don't know how Koenig throws the way he does, but it seems like a recipe for wildness. It also matters how many pitches you throw. If you're Civale or Rea and one pitch isn't working, who cares. When you only have 2 pitches and you can't locate one or both, you have a problem. Bottom line: It was just a terrible time for one of his few blown saves to happen. He's been one of the best relievers for years. Just not when it counted most.

  8. Brewers fam: I get it. It’s been 42 years since we’ve seen the promised land. We’ve endured years of mediocrity with occasional glimpses of greatness. We’ve sat back and watched big market teams buy their way to success (or not) and bemoaned the limitations of our team. We see waves of prospects come and go. Stars born, and fade, with no pennant to show for it. We experienced the thrill of CC Sabathia putting the team on his back and the return to the playoffs. We came mere innings away from a Game 7 victory in 2018. We’ve become accustomed to making the playoffs….and then exiting without a fight. It’s easy to get jaded. To assume the same ol’ thing is going to happen, Pack it in and fly the L. But what’s the fun in that? This may not be THE year, but this is a different year. This team doesn’t give up and neither should you. So when Myers gives up a homer, or Adames makes an error When Hoskins has yet another GIDP, or Bauer K’s, Don’t rip them to shreds. Don’t post that the game is over. Don’t complain that Murphy lost the game again. Will them to victory. Cheer for redemption. Don’t give up hope. Live on the edge of your seat with every pitch. If you’re at the game, scream until your voice gives out. If you’re watching with friends, jump and high five with every great play. If you’re by yourself, fist pump and cheer even though no one else can hear. Chances are, we will end the season with a loss, And it’ll hurt when it’s over, But this is a great team. It’s a great game. Let’s enjoy the October magic.
  9. He's clearly just saving himself for NLCS and WS.
  10. No matter how much we love Willy, we don't want him playing shortstop for the next 5-7 years if this season is any indication of how it's going to go, although I wonder if he'll end up sliding to 3rd. With his arm he'd still be a weapon and wouldn't have to worry as much about decreasing range.
  11. I assume next year will be something like Turang/Chourio/Yelich/Contreras vs RH and Chourio/Yelich/Contreras vs LH. Goodness that's going to be fun.
  12. I think that's an indictment on how terrible this format is. Why not just save time and make it a 1-game playoff? Then have the DS go 7 instead of 5.
  13. We've seen this movie before.
  14. I agree, I think it would have been perfectly reasonable to have Payamps ready and let Freddy face the bottom of the order.
  15. Yeah Chourio said he lost it in the windows.
  16. We're finally in Must Win territory.
  17. Well let's just do that all again in the 2nd inning.
  18. I will accept a Bauers salami as well.
  19. Is a 3 pointer too much to ask for here?
  20. Love how Chourio jumps on first pitches.
  21. More of this version of Freddy please.
