Jonathan Broxton going to #STLCards in a trade.

Can't imagine we got anything back for him, but it's salary relief.

And he'll be a Cardinal and return to his 1.5 ERA form he had before getting here.

Hope Mike Ohlman is coming back to the Crew...

Signed for $995,000 as an 11th-round pick in 2009, Ohlman never really got going offensively in the Orioles system with the exception of winning the high Class A Carolina League batting title with a .313 average in 2013. After he slumped again in 2014, Baltimore sold him to the Cardinals this February. He has performed well in Double-A for his new organization, creating hope that he could contribute as backup catcher in the big leagues.

When Ohlman keeps his right-handed swing from getting too long and doesn't try to pull everything, he can be effective at the plate. He has some pop and draws his share of walks.

Ohlman has made himself into a decent receiver and has an average arm. He's bigger than most catchers at 6-foot-5, which can hamper his efforts to block pitches in the dirt.

Could be a replacement for Lucroy.

Where I'm sure he will not allow an earned run for the rest of the year and play a vital role in the playoffs for them.

All but guaranteed to happen at this point. And it'll still irritate the crap out of me.

Even if it's just salary relief, any player at all we got back for him is an added bonus. Whoever it is will likely never reach MLB, but you never know. We got Blazek for Axford in a similar situation, so anything is possible.

Better question is why the Cards even want him? Unless they know their magic potion can fix him immediately?

Broxton's 3.07 2015 xFIP would suggest that he's pitching better than his ERA indicates. That would seem to make him a reasonable acquisition depending on what the return turns out to be.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Hilarious and true! +1 for you both

Ends up being the dominant closer for the cards, they ride him to a world series championship... Book it, stamp it, put it in the bank

Yeah, you know, except for that.

He's been pitching better as of late and has post season experience, correct? Not bad to have if all you have to give up is a coupla million after you just signed a $1BILLION television contract. :indifferent

Spent the past three years in rookie ball. Hasn't hit worth a lick this year at all. This will be very forgettable.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
