Small samples across the board, but Orlando Arcia has been the Brewers’ hitter with the most past success against Castillo (6-for-11 with a double).

 

Freddy Peralta had two starts in Cincinnati last year (July 1st and August 29th) and gave up runs early in both. Here’s hoping the third time is the charm!

Of the three young guys, I view him as having the lowest ceiling and lowest floor. That isn't really a knock on him, so much as it is acknowledgement that Burnes and Woodruff have huge upsides. Peralta is the youngest of the trio by far, though, so there is room to grow. If he can hit his spots, he has proven that he can get major league hitters out. There were some reports that he was hitting 96-97 on the gun in Spring Training, but we didn't see that in his start last week. If he doesn't have that higher velocity, he'll need to rely on control and deception to have success.

Yeah, 22 is young, I'm just not sure he's cut out for starting. He can definitely get guys out and has shown flashes of brilliance, but I just have a hunch he's either going to the pen or San Antonio in the not so distant future.

Lineups are out (available in the initial post). With Lorenzo Cain getting a day of rest Ben Gamel moves into the lead-off spot. For his career Gamel has a .301 BA / .349 OBP / .444 SLG (.793 OPS) when hitting in the first spot in the order (sample of 147 plate appearances).

I'm not at all. Gamel has serious wheels. I don't know what he's timed at but the guy just flies. I was pretty meh on him, but after watching him in game I think he has serious sleeper addition potential.

Peralta 2018 day games: 159/266/256 in 94 PA against.

 

Also a small sample, but Peralta was better during day games last year by almost 150 points worth of OPS against.
