Last out of the no-no looked like a hit off the bat. Great positioning. Giolito's change-up was ON.

Agree, I thought it was a hit which added to the drama of the moment. Sort of a cinematic type last out of sorts.

Well, the starting pitching has been ehh, while the lineup hus been ugh ... but this team's pen is legit.

Would love them to scrounge around the bargain bin at the deadline for one more arm to add to just to keep guys fresh down the stretch but yeah.

I don’t understand the masks practice in MLB.

Moose just had his mask down. Caught the ball. Made a joke with the Centerfielder. Gave him knucks. Then as he’s walking away, all alone, he puts the mask up.

Color me a weirdo. But they seem all over the board and inconsistent.

I almost trust Williams more than Hader.

The Cubs got blown out by the Tigers, 7-1. The Cardinals are now losing to the Royals, 5-4 in the 8th. Pirates got no hit. Tonight would be a good night for the Brewers to finish off the Reds for a win.

Another nice win. Even better that it comes against the preseason paper champion Reds.

Those here who called before the season that Reds spending would amount to another dud are welcome to dig up those old posts and have their bragging moment. I know I read it from a couple of you! :tongue

Teams so very rarely go from dumpster fire to World Series contender in one season. Plus the Reds had several guys have career years last year, so some negative regression should have been expected. I think it was pretty obvious that Dick Williams made a bunch of splashy moves in an attempt to save his job. I think he's a goner.

This.

I don't know if I'm allowed to say this or not but you guys realize that hader has pitched the equivalent of a no-hitter so far this season right?

Ha ha! YES! I screamed out, "Josh Hader has thrown a no-hitter!" after the ground out to secure the 9 no-hit innings. My wife just rolled her eyes.

Yes, he has been incredible so far. I’m just becoming a Devin Williams’ changeup stan.

In the post-game presser Counsell just said, “we should never take Josh for granted here”.

I'm curious if Woodruff and Burnes are still stretching out a bit or not. Woodruff especially seems to be lights-out initially then starts to struggle in the 4th or 5th inning.

This is proving prophetic this evening.

Unfortunately. Glad he righted the ship somewhat though. I'd happily take 6 innings and 2 runs from any starter. Just seems odd that he goes from unhittable to average after the third inning.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

That check swing cheapie that rolled into right against the shift was bad luck that should have ended the inning.

Not giving up a hit is really cool but there's some luck there too. Williams' just feels like he'll go out there and K the side every time. Kinda like I felt about Hader a few years ago.

I don't know about that but isn't it great to have both of these guys in that pen? :)
