2020-09-30 (NL Wild Card Series): Brewers (Suter) at Dodgers (Buehler) [Brewers lose, 4-2 -- Suter’s early struggles prove too much for offense to overcome; Yardley and Topa combine on solid effort out of bullpen]

I mean, what can you say at this point. Just bad luck after bad luck type of season. Sounds like a Brewers win tonight!
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Burnes and Williams out?

Geez, the hits keep coming.

Any confidence I had is now completely gone.

Glad they made the playoffs at all. Everything is gravy from here on out. My main hope for tonight is that Suter makes some sort of weirdly athletic play in front of the national audience.

I’m pretty sure us winning this series would qualify as one of the biggest baseball postseason upsets ever.

Can someone create a trophy to hoist just in case?

Whatever happens, we get at least two more games of Brewers baseball this year. Considering where we were in early July, when it appeared as though we may not get any baseball this year, I'll take all the Brewers I can get. Hopefully the bats wake up, and we're talking about Burnes and Williams coming back by this weekend.

And the 3rd starter, Brett Anderson.

(Nottomention Lorenzo Cain)

I try not to be Eeyore, but this is so discouraging. End of season injuries have not been kind to Milwaukee the last two seasons. And I'm in no way reassured by the "it's not serious" comments. This sucks.

As bad as this team has been a Burnes and Woodruff 1-2 would have given the team a decent chance. Now with all these injuries you just hope for a decent showing. Have no idea how this team can even score more than a run or two but at least we have a few more games to watch until March.

Interesting lineup tonight. I like that we’re stacking the bottom with guys that historically have good OBP for the top. Trying to maximize the at bats for our best hitters while hoping that at least some of the guys at the bottom have opportunities to reach base

For the Postseason the Brewers social media team appears to have switched over to a power outage type of graphic which may prove apropos.

One reason I want a Brewers win tonight (beyond all of the obvious reasons) is I’m sort of curious if the websites that give Postseason odds would give the Brewers a greater than 50% chance to win the series if they went up 1-0? It feels like they might still favor the Dodgers to win two straight in that scenario.

Devin Williams told reporters he thinks he’ll be back of the Brewers make it to the next round, and is crushed having to sit this one out.

Let’s do it for Devin!... and Corbin!... oh, and Brett!

Overall, I'm pleased with the lineup tonight. Definitely unorthodox but 1-4 looks good on paper.

Hiura in the 8 spot adds a little pop at the bottom of the order.

If the Crew pulls off the upset, I don't think Burnes would be back the next series either. Those oblique injuries are tricky.

I wonder if there are any prop bets on how many hits the Brewers will get the first 2 games. O/U 4.5?

With all that said, I can see the Brewers winning 10-0 tonight cuz, well, it's 2020 and all.

I half expected to see both Peterson and Sogard in the starting line-up...

That's a different lineup. Can't produce worse results than what the offense has been putting up.

Just got me thinking to tomorrow...we're declining the DH for a Woodruff vs. Kershaw playoff matchup, right? :devil

I feel about a 7-1 Dodgers win. I hope they can keep it close, I would gladly be tired all day tomorrow, but don’t see it happening tonight.

No question that we deserved to beat the Dodgers two years ago and got screwed over.

Karmic justice means we are now entitled to beat the Dodgers with a playoff roster that features David Freitas, Ryon Healy, Eric Sogard, and Jace Peterson.

:laughing :laughing :laughing
